I ordered an sb126 from avatar last week, it showed up today. Went home for lunch and unboxed it, gave it a run through real quick. Sounds great, and is plenty loud for my needs. Will give it a real test on Thursday. Expecting it do well.

It's been great. A little heavier than I would like, with the delta12, but not bad. Once i found the sweet spot for the mid volume it has been real nice. I haven't even come close to pushing it either, which really impressed me, because with my 400rb I thought it might not be enough power for it. I bought the 4 ohm cabinet, I don't need to run a pair of them. I have plenty of other cab options if I need more volume, but this one has been doing the job just fine. I'm very happy with it. I'm taking it to the studio this weekend and can't wait to hear it mic'd. I use a DI and mic when recording. Last time I was there, i mic'd an svt210av, and can't wait to compare the tracks.
Nice. I have the 4 ohm version as well. It sounds great. I just bought a little mark 250 blackline head. I can't wait to try it with the cab.
I have an 8 ohm SB-126 with the 3012lf. Got it here in the GFS a bit ago. It is not as smooth down low as a true fearful - shorter and less deep port. I think it is crossed into the 6 too high has well. I'm going to replace the x-over with a fEarful CBG and see where that takes it.
Currently I have it stacked on a fEarful 12.sub. In spite of my nit picking, it is a potent setup. Just not quite as good as it could be. One I get done modding, I'll probably sell the whole stack locally. I'm up to 6 12's in 5 cabinets and kinda out of space...

I just picked up a used SB-112 at GC. I am not into the horn - but for $170 bucks - I got it.
8 ohms with Tan tolex (almost mint) - with my D-800 I am happy with the sound.

Nice please post a pic. $170 is an absolute steal for the SB112. I still have mine and l still love it. I'm gigging it this Thursday. This will be the real test as I have not played with it on a stage as big. I've sold my Markbass Little Marcus 250 and TC BH250. I will be using my Markbass Little Mark 250. It should sound great.

pull the tweeter and drop in a sealed back mid. Eminence has a neo sealed back 6. That will instantly reduce the highs and make the cab less harsh on top. Check to impedance on the tweeter and match that with the mid. Maybe need a 16 ohm mid...
4Mal, any idea of the crossover point to the tweeter? Good idea on the mid, but it may not work if the crossover is set too high.
Looks very nice. I played mine the other day on a big stage and it sounded really good. I could hear it over the band with monitors.
The fEarful 12.6 CBG cross over was in the 650 to 1 k range IIRC. It would work well I expect. Available in kit or preassembled from Leland Crooks at Speakerhardware.com.
When I was running a 12.6 I padded the mid driver down a bit. I was getting towards the sound of a bare 10 rolling off. I thought that worked really well. kinda SVT'ish on top. Most everybody that played through that cab really liked it.
I haven't gotten around to doing that yet but it is on my list.
I have 3 Avatar cabs: 115, 112, and 210. They are all a tad heavy, but ruggedly constructed. I don't know why anyone would de-badge them, but I have used nothing else in the last 20 years. At 68, I have no problem moving any of them easily. My 115 is a 4 ohm as well, and was a nice match for an Eden WTX264 for years. The same amp struggled with the 8 ohm 210.
I am like you about the de-badge thing. Avatar have gotten a bad rap and I do not understand.
They have been making the 12 cabinet for a while with a horn or the 6 mid. WOW look at the fearful 12/6 - sure do look about the same. Size and configuration.
I play fretted, fretless, EUB and Rob Allen and have had problems with one cabinet for all of them and to date I am satisfied with the Avatar 112 for all my basses.
yeah... NO! The Avatar you can purchase with a few different drivers. Delta LF, 3012 LF. Those drivers have remarkable different needs in terms of porting and crossover and this is what separates what Avatar is doing from what companies like Aguilar, Mesa, Epifani and so on do. Avatar takes an existing shell and crossover, stuffs a COTS driver in and calls it good. The upper end cabs use the driver spec and design a cab around that.
Not slagging Avatar but recognizing that their approach is to deliver a broad range of product with relatively few shells. That has an implication for their costs and for the consumer's price. There are compromises in that approach however.
If you compare an actual fEarful 12.6 with an SB-126... frankly there is not comparison which shows the Avatar favorably.
that said, I just ordered a fearful mid cross over from SpeakerHardware.com. I'll install in early December on my next break. I expect it will be a major improvement. Something like an fDeck or Broughton variable LPF will clean up, the lows. I am interested in seeing how good this cab can be.

Well I guess I upset the boutique buyers. Over the last 45 years I have owned about every bass, amp and cabinet there is.
On cabinets from Peavey to Bergantino and even Fearful and Fearless and even the SVT 8x10. All good sound but for me in a live setting, my old ears I guess miss the finer elements of the tone.
Funny on basses I started on a P bass went thru modulus, Zon, Warwick, MTD, a boat load of fenders and even Status - but funny I am back to the P bass. But I have a Rob Allen and love it.
Actually the little Crazy 88 had the best tone - just not enough ass for the cabinet.
As for me Bass players seem to be button pushers and "Have to have the new GREAT thing". So I decided to stop the madness.

But back to the original posts - I love my Avatar 12 and for the money, size and to carry it around - I love it.

I debadged mine due to the look. I love the no badge look. Also it looked weird with the badge sideways.
