New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

i don't see what anyone's complaining about. you can buy used b-15's all day long for $1000, even 64's if you're patient and don't mind a beater.

Yep. Or buy a beater fliptop head (still an number of them floating around) send it off to a good tech for a redo, and buy a Vintage Blue cab. Nice mix of new and used (rebuilt), and still won't break the bank... as badly. ;)

I still don't understand the MO behind this one in terms of market share, or promotion, or consumer relations, or whatever, BUT... I'd still love to get one of these re-issues. :rollno:

Honestly, if everyone would get their emotions in check (me included), this should not cost more than $1000. But we have created a mystique about this amp here, and now $5000 is starting to sound quite reasonable, and it isn't. No matter what. It's a friggin' bass amp! I would not pay more than $1000 for this. Made in the USA.

No worries, Behringer is coming out with a SVT clone soon..... ;)

It's the principle, Spencer. So many of us have fluttered around this thread since its inception only to be given a HUGE middle finger by Ampeg/LOUD with this 50 only announcement.

I don't see it this way at all. Here's a company that is sincerely trying to build confidence in the brand after the blunders of the previous management, and from the looks of it they're moving Ampeg in the right direction. It seems like they pulled out all the stops on this amp, and anyone who builds amps will tell you how much a piece like this would cost to build. Yeah it's too bad they're only making 50, but I understand it given the boutique nature of the amp and the difficulty of producing them. The B15 is probably meant to show the public that Ampeg can still put out a great amp - I'm sure it will be followed by some more reasonably-priced amps that don't have all of the boutique bling. I see it as a sign of good things to come.

I personally see it as the "best" marketing strategy Loud/Ampeg found to "legitimate" the Asian manufacturing as standard.

Just as if Fender had set the Squiers as standard, and decided to build 50 unit limited runs on the MIA P's or J's.

Sorry, there's no more Ampeg in my book as of now.

Want highest quality ? Hi Mesa, here I come.
OK with Asian-made products ? Well, let's go Hartke.

leave it to Loud to both completely captivate and then immediately completely piss off a fair share of the bass community in less than one month. I'm not pissed, hardly. as soon as i heard Black check i went "aha dr watson"; black tolex= limited edition, blue tolex=overseas point to point version is probably what they're gonna do. ya want american built ya gotta pony up (and if i could i surely would) but for the rest of us punters an ironed out vietnamese B15 would work just fine. the vietnamese made hand wired J-20 was an Outrageously great guitar amp, too bad it never caught on. ampeg is the harley davidson of amp manufacturers, and for some it's just gotta be an american made ampeg. but it'll cost ya, which is as it should be, imo. american pride in workmanship is not cheap, nor should it be

I understand that they are trying to build confidence in their brand, God knows they need it now more than ever. And by reasonably priced you mean made in Asia? I like Ampeg, own the 810E, and have owned many other products from them BUT I will not purchase an Asian made amp.

[Insert Patriotic Speech here]

My only hope here is that what JimmyM said holds true: that they will not sell out instantly. So those of us who have the coin will at least have a chance at getting one of these.
