seriously. it's very nice to hear that you're excited, but i haven't met a class d micro amp yet that 'blows an all tube SVT off the stage'.
Agreed!

True enough. Sometimes when I try out a cab and turn the tweeter down, I find myself wondering--if it had been designed without a tweeter in mind, would it end up sounding different (possibly better to my ears).Just turn that sucker down if you're not into it.![]()

lolThe cabs look like the top has latches ala B15 fliptop. Could it be that the head will attach to the cab lid and be just that - a fliptop?
If so, my G.A S. just got more gaseous.
it does indeed. doesn't have to, but it can.The cabs look like the top has latches ala B15 fliptop. Could it be that the head will attach to the cab lid and be just that - a fliptop?

i don't even need 350w, but at that price it might be very hard to turn down.
looks like americanmusical took their links down...but i found pics of them and prices on this page (they just had to put those links up while i was out of town on a gig...hey ryan, next time, please time your sneak preview publicity stunts to my schedule, ok?![]()

wow, looks like the micro amp arms race is on! those are insane price points. from the looks, i'd say the 350 is a beefed up micro vr, and the 500 is a downsized svt 7 pro. did anyone get to see if the pf500 has a tube before they took it down?
Ampeg's Portaflex PF500 bass head delivers a staggering 500 watts of power in an ultra-compact design providing pure Ampeg tone in an extremely portable package. The PF500 harnesses the performance of Ampeg's highly-researched MOSFET preamp, setting a new standard for solid-state tone. Tonal control is no problem with the 5-position midrange control and classic ultra hi/lo boosts while features like the direct out with ground lift and pad are perfect for the gigging bassist. Theres even onboard compression for a tighter, cleaner tone at high volumes. Pair it with our PF-115HLF or PF-210HLF flip-top cabinets for the vintage styling and portability of Ampegs iconic Portaflex originals.
i don't know how ampeg keeps doing it...just when you think they're done for, they always seem to pull themselves back from the brink. the only owner who had any real stability with ampeg has been slm. even under everett hull it was a nightmare with unmet deadlines, way more demand than they could supply, leveraging with money from employees, etc.
and yet, even though the business of ampeg hangs by a thread most of the time, they still manage to remain competitive and right in the thick of the new technology as well as the old.
i don't know exactly how it works, but the cabs are made to be stackable, so i'm assuming the casters are easily removed. maybe they have a dolly?
btw, is it just me having a psychological thing with the ampeg logo, or do these ampegs look better than most micros?
IMO, if they sell immediately, and there is a big demand for them, they'll probably make more. otherwise what's the point?
