New ampeg speculation - A true B15 Reissue?

they are. it's seamonkey's day to troll the tube amp threads.

Now that's funny but tragically all to true.
Too bad Ampeg hasn't anounced that they are building a 2-way cab; that would really open fishing season for the trollers.

Are those who are trollers, actually trolls?

lol, yeah, the glory days of the jaime engen era ;)

well i don't know if pyotr will invite you in for a tour, but hats off to them for trying to make up for what the former head idiot did to them.

Ampeg back then, unlike all the cheeseheads these days claiming their drivers are proprietary, actually hooked me up with their enclosure engineers who without the slightest twist of the arm sent me not only the requested Thiele-Small parameters for the drivers I was interested in, but also actual test data and graphing.

That's class!

what justifies the price jump? hey, this ain't a freaking assembly line amp, dude. this is a handmade b-15, the holy grail of bass amps.

I initially had (hypothetical) sticker shock as well. After having time to think about what this amp actually is though, I came to the same conclusion as Jimmy. They're not using any PCBs in this amp, they're wiring everything by hand, one at a time. That and the fact that yeah, like Jimmy says, this is the Holy Grail of bass amps. :bassist:

i thought they were going to start being available at namm. do i have that wrong? no price announced yet.

From Ampeg: Ampeg Well, there are 50 being made. They go up for sale to dealers during NAMM, Jan 13-16. First come, first serve for US dealers. If you want to secure one, you should get in touch with your dealer right away, so they can try to get one at the show. We are not listing prices at this time. Your dealer should be able to get pricing soon through their Ampeg sales rep

I received a Message on Facebook from a fellow user stating word on the street was the combo was going to be $5,000, which is insane.

agreed with both of you, except maybe i agree with dialog a little less. however, i don't think they'll have a problem at all finding 50 people to buy one. it will be mostly rock stars and rich hobbyists getting them. i'm sure it'll be out of my league too, but i'm not sweating it. not everything is meant for folks like us. i'm just glad to see an ampeg regime finally start making a real b-15 again, and like reagan, i hope it trickles down to the rest of us in the form of a cheaper version ;)

Well, they're already teasing (what looks to be) that solid state fliptop, which definitely WOULD be a nice alternative... aka more economical. I'm trying not to think about it for now though, all that's going to do is make my G.A.S. worse. NAMM is when we're going to hear all this information for sure, and I'm very much looking forward to finally hear what Ampeg has up their sleeves.

I think that they're going to sell out their initial run of B-15's in a heartbeat.

I imagine that there must be a lot of connected people that are already standing in line. It'll be like trying to get a ticket for a hot concert. They'll be sold out before the doors open. With the equivalent of one unit available per state, what chance do mere mortals have?

I think that Ampeg should collect names and hold a lottery, at least for some units, to determine who gets to buy one. Imagine all the hype that it would generate for the brand.

The Heritage B-15 is paying homage to a venerated amp. There isn't going to be a lot of profit in it.

The B15 is going to be presented beside some affordable and more profitable alternatives that are based on the design. It is going to help open the door to the sales of these other amps.
