hmmm...ribbon mic, eh? bet that kills.

Back in the early '80s I had a Western Electric 639B that I did some recording with, glorious tone. :):D I even used two amps with the mic between them for a couple things, one was a Walter Woods MI100-8 into a custom made rear loaded horn with a JBL 2225 (IIRC), the other amp was a Traynor YSR-1 into a Bullfrog 2-12 cabinet.

that sounds pretty awesome, i'll bet!

I still kick myself for selling the mic! :scowl:

dont wanna go off topic (although im also waiting for the new B 15) but the Western Electric 639 is an outstanding bass mike, heres mine.

missed this before, but it sounds like you're a perfect candidate for one of mark's cabs ;)

I know! Any time I've ran just the head on either a 2x15 cab or a 4x12, it was more than enough. I think it would be cool to have a blue check version of the B-15NC 2x15 cab, but I'm waiting to see what the cost will be on the new HB15... ;)

WOW , This is exciting news! I have used Ampeg SVT's exclusively since 1976. I picked up a b-15S with a factory installed Altec. It sounds amazing. I cant wait to check out one of these Heritage amps. Jess Olivers legacy has come full circle, sort of! Oh Hell Yes!

yep, this is the big one. first new 30w b-15's in 30 years. i'll have to resume my career in home invasion to afford one, but i'm seriously thinking it over ;)

Still say a used one will be cheaper (and better) than an off shore version although I hope I'm wrong
Would be great to have more of these amps on the planet

if you look at the history if the b-15n, each subsequent version of it from the 64 is "dumbed down" in some way...first they went to a single baffle cab, then they went to a larger cab with a shelf port, no blue diamond, and a much less fancy looking head. and yet, all the different versions have their big fans. i suspect that if they made an offshore b-15n, as long as it still had the basic b-15n circuit, it would kill in its own way just like all the other versions.

Good point Jimmy; just have a trust issue based on some of the later off shore offerings
Wonder the tonal outcome if they cheap out on critical items like output transformers and speakers for tone and circuit board traces for reliability (plus a million other details)

It would be a great thing if they could build a decent copy that sold for $1,000ish street price
