New Bergantino Cabinets!

Man, that cab was a real champ on the gig! It did everything that I thought it would do. It was full, it was clear, it sounded great... What surprised me a little bit was that it seemed to be able to really fill the room and the mix without having to be pushed very hard. That thing was slamming, though I felt like I was barely pushing it (as far as the gain/volume settings on the amp are concerned). Now, granted, I was pushing it with a Mesa/Boogie Fathom (M6), which is a very stout amp, but prior to the show, I tried it with a variety of heads and it was clear with all of them that the HD212 gets very loud and authoritative without having to be pushed too hard (though it could take a lot of juice without complaining, too).
In honor of my 19-year old dog, Gibson, whom I had to have put down last Thursday (that was a rough day...), I played my Gibson Explorer most of the night. 5-string duty was handled by my ash/maple/wenge/wenge 535.
I did not find it a pain to move, but then again, I'm not very sensitive to weight issues, either. All I know is that from a tone/volume/performance perspective, the HD212 is definitely one of the most impressive (passive) cabs I have heard, considering its size. Highly impressed!
Sorry for your loss. Went through that recently with a couple of ours and it was very rough.

First of all, my condolences regarding your dog going to doggie heaven. We lost ours recently as well, after 15 years of wonderfully playful times.
Thanks for posting your comments regarding the HD212. It sounds like a great cab! My question for you is, do you think a stacked pair of HD112's would sound about the same as one HD212? The pair of HD112's would have two tweets, compared to the single tweet of the HD212. But of course, you can dial down the tweets on the HD112's to compensate.

My thanks to all who have expressed condolences. I do appreciate it. Putting Gibson down was probably the second worst day of my life, even though I knew it had to be done. But I really can't complain about the length of time we had him for. He went through a lot, and was a very tough dog, for all his pacifist ways.
My next comparison is going to be two HT112ER's next to the HD212. Not having done it yet, I'm expecting the two ER's to be a bit more "Hi-Fi" sounding and the HD212 to pack a bit more punch right up the middle, but we'll see...

And now they're unboxed and looking sharp!
I dig the black tolex and the black metal corners. Not only is it a cool look... but for me (i.e. a dealer), I think this stuff will resist minor scuffs much better than the truck bed liner/spray-on coating. I was forever feeling bad about the little scratches that would show up on the spray-on coatings of the cabs that used to sit on my sales floor. It seemed like if you just breathed on the cabinet wrong, then there was a 2 inch scratch on the cab. So I find tolex to be more user friendly for minor wear and tear (IMHO, of course). I also dig it for bigger wear & tear issues, but I'm a master with super glue and a black sharpie.
One pleasant suprise I should note: the HD112 has feet on two sides now (just like the HD210 does), so you can run it horizontally or vertically. Bonus!!
I'll try to work up a demo clip this afternoon. I just have to determine how ambitious I'm feeling (just audio, or maybe a video?!?)...

Wow... I plugged 'em up with King Koa and a Genz-Benz Streamliner 900... Wow!
I didn't expect to like the HD112 a whole lot more than the HT-112ER, but I think I do (and that's saying something, 'cause I always liked the HT112ER). This might be just 'cause I had it up a ear level, though, but it was sounding gooooood firing right in my face. Very smooth, deep and articulate for such a small cab. It handles a 5/6 string, no problem.
The HD212 is unreal (in a great way). Much like the AE-212, I found myself actually cutting the lows on my bass (something I never do with most other cabinets). I know some folks didn't see the AE-212 that way, but I certainly did. And I certainly do with the HD-212, too. I thought I was going to bring down the building when I switched the speaker cable from the HD112 to the HD212. Thunder? It's in there!! What a fantastic cabinet, this is easily capable of driving a hard rockin' live band in a club setting with no PA support.
I'm going to make an attempt at doing a video for these two cabs. That's virgin territory for me, so it might not result in anything useful. But I'll try!!

I can never find headphones big enough to fit my punkin' head, so I figured on makin' a set.

Yes, I think that the LMII and the HD212 would be a nice match.
I've been a little suprised that nobody has contacted me for a quote yet... then it dawned on me that I've yet to "receive" the cabs officially in my accounting software. That has a couple downsides:
1) My site says that I don't have the cabs (even though a I really do), and
2) I'm not being triggered to pay Jim for the cabinets! Doh - sorry, Jim!
I was so excited to get down to playing these cabs that I forgot all about the business end of it. I'll rectify that first thing tomorrow, but for now you can rest easy knowing that I have multiple HD112's and HD212's ready to ship immediately... so come and get 'em!
I've also got a video coming together that should be at least slightly interesting and informative. I'm looking at it mainly as a technical exercise, I simply need to learn the video shooting and editing tools. But hopefully what results is both technically competent AND useful on some level as a marketing tool. We'll see in a couple/few days, it's pretty slow going at the moment...

Yep, I have an HT112 ER and am wondering whether I will have an HD212 if I sit an HD112 on top of the HT and turn off the tweeter on the HT. It seems that the only difference between the cabs is carpet to tolex and the tweeters, so I think they should work nicely together. Thoughts anyone???

My thinking aligns with yours. If you take the extra cost out of the equation (which isn't all that much anyway), I lean toward a stacked pair of HD112's.
I suppose there are folks who prefer a one-cab solution, which is cool. For me, I have to store my stuff upstairs, and so it would be easier for me to carry two 44 pound cabs one at a time up and down the stairs rather than a 79 pound cab. (I'm 55 years old, and I'm not as strong as I used to be.) Transporting across the ground doesn't matter to me since I use a Kart-a-Bag Super 600 hand cart, but it's that tote up and down the stairs that gets me.
