What kind of music do you play, what kind of bass, what volume level and what tonal references can you give? Preferences may be largely dependent on all those things. I don't doubt you at all, just trying to put a frame of reference around it.
PS: The TH500/CN212 sure LOOOKS Cool!!!
Your questions are valid. No doubt all this may change at different volume levels and venues. Our rehearsal volumes approximate a wine bar. Bass is a Stambaugh ODB 5 strung with Sadowsky flats. Music is Blues-rock. We do a lot of Stevie Ray Vaughan, Robben Ford, Gary Moore, Robert Lucas tunes. And some originals in that vein. The tone I go for is warm, fat, even up and down the fingerboard, and clear. And sometimes a bit of grind.
Part of the problem may be that I'm so satisfied with the various tones of the cabs I already own that it's difficult to accept something new. So I will wisely be giving the Berg lots and lots of time to win me over.
