New Bergantino Neo Line; Pt. 2

Happy new CN212 owner!

At Gelb music today I played a Mesa Carbine M9 through the Bergantino CN1212 and now it is mine! Cannot wait for my own M9 to arrive next week, which I bought from TB classifieds, to finally be relieved from amp GAS!

I tested the cab with the M9 with all settings including gain and master at noon, with comp and EQ disabled and what a wonderful, so loud, and, clean sound. I did have to turn the horn nearly all the way off because it was really bright at noon.

Then we moved the speaker cable to a GK410 and it sounded pretty darn good too and at almost half the price but that one is about 20 lbs heavier and harder to carry. I noticed on the GK I had to move the master up by 1 full position to get the same volume level and it was still very clean and asking for more. I was impressed with the GK.

We then switched the cable back and then the volume of the CN212 was scary loud and much more full (10s vs 12s I guess) and no farting at all when i plucked very hard on a low E with a passive Jazz pass with all pots at full. I tried the CN112 but it farted before it got half as loud - no surprise there, huh? They did not have two of them out or I would have loved to hear them together. But I think they sound much different from the 212. The CN212 sound is incredible.

Now I want s slip cover and Studioslips.com was recommended by Jared(?) at Gelb. Any other recommendations?

Only think wanting is the cab to have wheels but I can make something or use a skateboard. :)

Nice. Just FYI, the M9/M6 is brutally bright up top. Make sure to experiment with turning down the treble on the amp (significantly), along with dialing down the top end a bit with the graphic, and turning that magnificent tweeter/crossover back up.

There is a very nice Bergantino cover available that I would recommend. A bit pricey, but VERY high quality. You could save a few bucks by having either Tuki or LeCover make a padded cover for you (just make sure to send in exact measurements). My guess is that one of these companies makes the Berg covers (and hence will suggest the Berg cover when you talk with them).

Finally, many small fold up carts available that would work well for you with that cab.

Hi thanks for the tips. I am considering the hi pass filter suggested by others in a thread I started asking for cab recommendations for the M9 because I would really like to save the EQ for solo or other infrequent uses but I may be dreaming!

As for the cover, I was surprised to see it listed on the Berg website because the salesmen said they did not make one. I think I saw it is $140 which I feel is expensive bit a good investment. Might you know who stocks these so I could place an order for immediate delivery?

I know it was briefly discussed earlier in this thread but has anyone had the opportunity to directly compare the Genz Benz NX2-212T with the new Bergantino CN212 now that there are more of each on the street?

GK cabs are pretty darned good, and competitive with the best. They offer amazing bang for the buck. The Neo212-II probably would have been a better comparison, but either way, I think you found yourself one of the very best cabs out there (and it just happens to be very lightweight). :bassist: :bassist: :bassist: :cool:

Though I doubt you'll find someone with both cabs to make that comparison it'd be nice if someone had played/owned each to recall their differences. Also, comparing the older NeoX 212T to the CN212 would be cool. I own the NeoX 212T and am close to ordering a new NX2. I've read the NX2 is quite different than the NeoX cab. But for a different tone, I'm also considering the CN212 or XSonics 212 cabs.

I'm def going for light-weight 212 cab just not sure if each of their tones will work for me. These are all still relatively new so may be difficult to get that comparison soon.

Something pretty magic to me in that TH500/CN212 matching.... thick, fat, a bit rough, but very articulate... and loud and light. Really sits in the mix with real low end extension, all the mids you could want, and a nice grunt to it. Not for everyone (definitely not for the uber clean and/or sizzly guys), but for a real 'meat and potatoes' sort of bass tone that is heard on a zillion rock/pop/funk/country recordings, it is pretty darn good (especially with a more traditionally voiced instrument):bassist:

That this cab sounds equally good (IMO and IME) with the Glockenklang Blue Soul (which is as different from the TH500 as any head could be) supports your feeling that this cab seems to work well with anything you hook it up to!
