New Box Day

+1 It's nice to see a box from that era that hasn't been refinished.

I used to date a box, like that. I used it, took it for granted, eventually losing it to a tree-hugging, green-loving recyclist... I miss that box. Still have a montage of pics of us, hanging in the bathroom. Unsure why I took pics of us, hanging in the bathroom, but I did. Probably need to let it go, but it's hard...

I like light boxes, I'd leave that black monolithic nuisance out of the box, maybe even the packing paper-balls (unless they're period correct to the box, then I'd keep them in the box, too).

Oh, and check the quality of the box, see how many corrugations per inch it has and how many ply – can't be too careful, lots of counterfeit boxes being passed off as original...

The Beard On A Stick thing was pretty durned cool, too, though...

I don't like a heavy box, due to back and shoulder problems. I would definitely get rid of the black heavy thing on the interior, and I am pretty sure that the black thing adds nothing to the tensile strength or load-bearing capacity of that first-rate, corrugated, Oregon-tree-pulp awesome box you picked up. Normally, when I see those on craigslist, I assume they are fakes, and buy new at Uhline so that I know I am getting the real McCoy.

Edit: Dammit, now I see my post looks like it is a cheap Chinese copy of Feral Feline's post, even though I swear I did not bother to read it! At least mine has a picture of Leonard McCoy, so it has that going for it.

Well, now, congratulations are in order. Nice axe.

P, J, and MM. Nice.

If you were really a completer, you might want to order another box and hope it is filled with packing material labeled "G&L L-2000." Just sayin'...

I'm really bummed you got a box. I got three basses recently and only got two lousy gig bags and one didn't even have that. No boxes. Can you believe the nerve of the guy I bought some pedals from on CL? Only one had a box. He wouldn't even lower his price because of it either.

What's the world coming to?

Nice bass you found in that box.
