New Carvin P bass, about time?

And it is almost certainly coming as well. I think as long as Sekou is getting a few bucks from each one sold he wouldn't be too upset about Carvin suddenly seeing a big uptick in sales. As for Fender giving fire, that ship sailed decades ago.

Maybe they'll do it if they see enough money in it. I can see them being hesitant to have to support and stock the extra collection of pickguards needed by a SB P, though.

A P in a B40/B50 should just be a matter of updating their CNC programs, though.

I doubt they'll do it in the SB but I was just stating that even though it's a signature bass, they did offer the MM style pickup in it from the beginning. Maybe if Carvin had a split coil P pickup in production when they started the SB's, they might have offered that. One can only speculate.

. You all need to give this a little time. I remember when the Icon came out with the then new soap bar pickups. People were immediately asking if they could get the soap bars in other models. After a while, Carvin did start offering the new pickups in most of their basses. I imagine they will offer the split coil in other models down the line, too.

Word from Carvin employee on the Forums is that they have no plans to offer a reverse-split. Also a pic was posted during the build process of this new bass and there is a copper foil-shielded control cavity below the pick guard, along the side of the body. A "no pick guard" option is impossible.

I don't think the PB looks like a J at all.

and besides, many builders make pretty direct copies of Fender shapes...

The shape of the body isn't protected (only the shape of the headstock). That's why you see all these P and Jazz copies with a different headstock shape.
