New Darkglass Compressor: The Hyper Luminal Hybrid Compressor

Ok I love the pedal, I powered it with iso 5 ...no problem.

I swiched over to Pedal Power 2 and it worked fine and then....lights flashing,squealing...the pedal started making noises like an old modem!!?? I tried different power cables and different power ports, same result.

Anyone else experience this? I love the pedal, but there is no way i can use this in a show if this happens even once.

I recall at the initial launch there were some issues with some power supplies, quite possibly with Voodoo Lab. They were sending out shipping labels, fixing them, and sending them back with mugs. Best to look back a bit in this thread and contact DG. They'll take care of you.

Yeah as TonyRo says, they had to replace a lot of first run HL's because they were not compatible with some power supplies. I had to have both of mine replaced. No biggie and is worth the effort to have the best compressor pedal on the market :)

Send a message to Darkglass support and they will fix you up.

In the meantime, if it starts squealing again on power up you can unplug the power from the pedal, wait about 30 seconds to plug back in and it will be cleared up.

New Darkglass day is always a good day!

Picked up my Hyper Luminal this morning and quickly got it on the board. Initial impressions while playing through headphones:
1. I can definitely hear a difference in character between all three modes.
2. All three modes sound really good and I can see them all being useful.
3. Darkglass suite was a piece of cake to setup and use. Played around with the Attack/Release settings but staying with the default at the moment.
4. Set the HPF to 120Hz as per suggestions from @scubaduba and others and it makes a huge difference in how the compressor reacts.
5. Touch sensors are awesome! Effective and cool!
6. FET “All in” mode is very much interesting and can get quite grindy depending on the settings.
7. The pedal just makes my bass sound better and makes me happy to play! Great job @Darkglass !!!

Looking forward to spending more time playing with and getting to know this pedal!

Yay!

Thanks for the kind words and getting the pedal!

...the Compression knob...we implemented a makeup gain control to work simultaneously with it, which maintains the output level within a much more manageable range at different Threshold settings.
That right there gets my attention. To be able to just adjust one control without being forced to make other adjustments is the kind of real world user friendly features we need more of.

How well does the Hyper Luminal work with acoustic and electric guitar? Would be great to be able to use it with them too.

Super well! We actually have a guitar mode in the suite that automatically optimizes the parameters for the instrument.

Thanks for the quick response and I think this video is really going to help you sell a lot of them to guitar players, starting with me.
Especially love the idea of being able to optimize it for both the bass or the guitar.
Any chance we'll be able to do that without having to go to the computer at any time in a future version? Be great just to have a small switch for bass/guitar.
