Double Bass New EA VL208?

LDS also is working with Eminence on some improved custom Neo 8's as a lower cost option to the absolutely wonderful (but expensive) B&C 8" Neo's that they are using now. Early feedback, from what I understand, has been great.

I play my Lakland Jo5 through a VL-110/208 combo and the B sounds sweet; low-phat and tight. If I only need one cab, I prefer to bring the 110.

I do exactly the same (vl-110/vl-208 and vl-110 for small rooms). The low B on my Hamer Cruise 2TEK sounds great!

Mike, I assume that all of us who stepped up for a "buy" should get dibs on the first production (although this might be hard to work out through the dealers)? That is, IF it goes into production.

That looks really sharp, Mike, and more compact than than the VL-208, I'd say. It looks like something ran down the side of the cab, though. Is that glue(?) from the handle cutout, or did someone already spill a drink on it?

It has a very similar look to VL 208's but it's lighter and less filling!!! I wonder where the attenuator for the crossover is located, or is their one at all? Did they need one?

My guess is on the back plate, just like the NL-210.

Welcome to the EA users club. I also own a VL 110. It's actually a very nice cabinet. I use it with my upright in smaller clubs.

The compression tweeter appears to be just like the one used in the EA NL-210. Can anyone comment on what this horn sounds like? While I'm really looking forward to hearing one for myself, I would think the new 208 being a 2-way system with a larger horn tweeter would sound distinctly different from the old 3-way VL-208 with direct radiator mids and the smaller horn tweeter.

Ok, I played the NM-208 prototype #1 this w/e at the musicplayer live event. It has real promise. Quite punchy - surprisingly so and very quick (as you would expect from 8" drivers). The drivers seem really nice. Overall, a few tweaks are still needed. John is going to be playing with the padding density and amount to optimize tone and we're going to try and shave a few more pounds off of it. John as telling me that the dual transmission line "M" Box has over 30 seperate pieces of wood in it. Although the box feels pretty light now, we think we can get a few more pounds off of it. John is going to make some adjustments to it and then send it to me for evaluation. I'll let you know more as I know

Do the VL 108's and 110's have that many structural pieces
internally. Since all I can see looking at my cabinets are 6 sides, that would mean that there are something on the order of 24 pieces of wood inside a M line cabinet!!!! Wholly Mooly! No
wonder they sound like they do.

Right now it is just over 30 and we want it lower than 30

Yeah, 24 pieces to create the double transmission line.

This is the idea behind the Transmission Line. The NM series is a double transmission line and therefore has quite a bit more parts
