Double Bass New EA VL208?

I loved my VL210 when I had it, but it was just way too bass heavy for upright... I'm now using two CXL112's for upright and slab bass. They have the best sound I have ever heard!!
Well Folks,
Jessie Mains was kind enough to sell me his VL 208. It's in pristine condition
and sounds wonderful. These speakers have something special in the way they reproduce Double Bass. I feel very privileged to finally have one.

Wow. I'm curious as to the difference between the side port and the front port. Is this still "transmission line"? How does it compare to the real thing?
It'd be nice to know whats happening in the development of this thing. Anybody have any news? oops, missed the last 2 responses, looks nice in the pics!

I have only just started playing with it (and I have not A/B'd it to a VL-208 yet), but I can say that at first listen, it certainly does remind me of a louder, deeper VL-208.
The response seems exceptionally smooth and even. But again, this is at first blush, to take that FWIW.Tom.

41 lbs? I thought Mike Dimin said that the new EA 208 was currently 31 lbs and they were trying to get it under 30 lbs?
