New Ibanez (headless, multiscale)

How much are these basses weighing? Any EHB owners that can comment?

Sorry, it's metric over here. ;)

Yep headless are not inherently lighter. My Kiesel headless guitar weighs more than my Gibson SG. It just depends on the wood more than anything.

Steinberger was not too light...no wood and little body....my Spirit a little wood body (basswood) like original made bridge (of?) is quite light but suggest on dimension could be lighter. The advantage of Headless 34" is that with a lightweight body no neck dive issues that on 34" common headed is a normal fact light body not heavy neck/hphisical factor that long headed neck could be balanced well with a body weight whitout enought weight necK headed dive....if headless less and you can made a lighter body.

New video is out! Reviewing the Ibanez EHB1505MS, the top of the line headless multiscale offering from Ibanez. How does it stand up against the excellent EHB1005MS? Watch to find out!

How old are the strings on the EHB1005? They almost sound like the strings had been dulled instead of fresh strings. Also, if you tweaked the active EQ on it a bit, could you have matched the tone of the EHB1505 very closely?

That's a great question. They're the original strings, about two months old. Even though I play a lot of the EHB, I'm not playing hours a day on this thing. I'm going to swap both sets of strings out for MJC nickels to do a true apples to apples in a future short video. I don't tweaking the EQ would have done much for the Barts. The Nords are much hotter, and an EQ tweak won't replicate that. I'll be sure to explore the EQs of both basses more when I do the next EHB vid though. Thanks for the suggestions!

Looking forward to it.

I'm a little worried that when I get my EHB1000, I might find the Barts a bit too dark/congested, but if it's simply a matter of adding a bit of treble or high-mids with the EQ, I could live with that. Otherwise I might have to swap out the pickups, and I rather not have to do that. Also, using really bright strings on it might also help.

Thanks for the vid! Did you notice any difference in fit & finish or fretwork between the basses? I would assume they're made on the same line by the same people but always curious to hear impressions.

Great video! I am really glad you are helping potential buyers hear the difference between the two. I stick by my earlier statement that I would probably be happy with the EHB1005MS with Nordstrand pickups rather than pay the extra money for the fancier woods that really do not matter to me

I agree with you. I actually prefer the seafoam green one way more than the other. I generally don't like fancy wood tops in basses.

Beside the pup and wood different, I believe the roasted maple fretboard has harder surface than panga panga fretboard on 1505ms.

I been play Cort A5 Scms display unit at GC and I found lot finger nail mark on the panga panga fretboard. I use my finger nail and give some press on the finger board , damn.... new mark add easily.
