Hi Talkbass. I'm Jeff, I'm 28. I have an undergrad in music and worked as an audio engineer for a music house for the past 4 years until I got laid off. I'm back in school studying electronic engineering. I play a Lakland (duh), a plywood upright, some guitar, some piano, some drums, and trumpet. I also have a pretty happening studio in my basement where I produce my own stuff and do projects for friends.

I found this forum by accident. I think it's the best one I've found yet. A wide variety of ages, backgrounds, skills, opinions...really informative and very fun. Kudos to those who run the forum! I'll become a supporting member as soon as I get back on my feet.

Here's a pic of my baby:

Dude after 14 years you must've layed a hell of a lot of drums.

nah i dont need any surgery i just leave the bass drums where they are but maybe in the future i will want to move them :)
anyhow seriously i will often be missing p's. Due to the fact that my p key is very stubborn and i refuse to buy another keyboard. All of my oney goes to car paymesnts and music ($100 a month for lessons)

Hey im new here and im new at bass (not even 1 year) but ive posted some things about a question i have. I LOVE TO PLAY METAL. i play a lot of other things but metal is my thing. so i was thinkin of a new 5-string. i thought either the BcRich Warlock Platinum or the ESP f-205 or ESP b-205. i need to know which is a better deal. thank you.

Newbies-warning, :D when i came here i didn't know the difference between a Sadowsky and a Spector. Now a while later, i can confuse a bassist that has been playing for more than double my life time and know more about speakers, amps, cabs, impendence than all my school band directors + my bass teacher. :D I am proud to be here. Also i'm a registered fenderholic and a gear head. thats all

hi low-lifers (a compliment....REALLY!!):D

hey CTHEOP, no-one deserves a bass that cool:cool: i'm so jealous, i'll have to invent a new word for it......

i'm a newbie to tb and i've learned alot so far. been a bassist for 15 yrs, should start giggin again in Jan. 2002. next goal - learn fretless!!

joke:
(little boy to mother) 'mom, when i grow up, i wanna be a musician and play Rock and Roll!!!'

(mom's reply) 'you'll have to chose ONE or the OTHER dear, you can't do both!!!!!!!!'

animal noise:
'squeak, kissy sounds, click click, mumble mumble, squawk' (that's my parrott, his name is Hogan) wait a minute... that also sounds like ME playing the bass after too many beers!!!!!!

I am what you call a true newbie, i got my bass exactly 50 days ago ( i know im sad for counting). I was coming to this site before i even had a bass, and it has helped me alot, infact, if i didnt come here i probably wouldnt have got a bass anyway. Its taught me a lot of things i didnt know, so i guess i have to say thanks to all you people who post on the threads, cos that is probably the most helpful things as it is coming from people who have been playing bass for years. im probably boring you all now so i'll just leave it there.....

Hi!
I guess this is the first foreign contribution!
My name is Matt (well actually a short version of my name). I`m from germany and I started playing Bass 1 year ago, when I bought my first bass. It`s a cheap Collis Bass, simple but it works. First I thought of starting playing guitar but, then I met with a bass in an instrument store near by my house and that was the important intetion. Right now I play in a Band which is not too bad at my opinion and it`s so much fun. It`s fascinating what possibilities the bass gives me to influence the sound of the different songs. I`m not that experienced yet, since I first learned playing bass from a guitar teacher but now I`ve changed to a real bass teacher. I have not so much experience about techniques, styles, etc. so please don`t mind any silly questions of me in any Forum, please!!! These forums are a good chance to get tips and tricks from other bassplayers which often help. Right now I play an Epiphone EB-0 and I like it so much.

So I hope this is not too long and kind of interesting for you!!!

Your Matt
;)

hi im nick ive only been playing for about 5 years i love funk.Im in a minnesota industrial band and weve only played like 40 gigs but i think were getting better.i have an ibanez ex series bass with active pickups and specialized gold hardware and i play through an eden stack

i have a question i really like the sound that i get when i use my brocken down chorus peddle (its really old) through my ibanez now do you think this effect is overused?i mean it really sounds quite differnt when the peddle is almost shot but do you think to many people use this? please reply

Hi, I'm John. I've been posting for a short while on TB, have learned a lot and I hope contributed something.

I'm 31, into Trace Elliot and Spector gear (see profile), stay near Glasgow in Scotland and have been playing, um, er, about 15 years maybe. I'm self taught so all the bad habits and classy mistakes are my own!!!!

I'm in a band that has a sort of management and sorta record deal going just now - we're sorta recording the album too. It's too hard to explain all the 'sorta' just now. If we 'make it' big I'll tell you (and how) if we don't I'll tell you (and what not to do!).

Hmmm, what else. Oh yeah the name Johnny Boom Boo is nearly what our drummer calls me - she calls me Johnny Boom Boom, but when I put this in I messed up (Big Wheel had a right ol' laugh at it). I tried to fix it, but 'cos I still use the same email address it wouldn't let me change it (OK maybe it would, but I ain't that clever with computers!!!) so anyway I just left it!

I've noticed a few other TBers posting form Scotland - hi guys, do you all go to the same shops as I do Sound Control, McCormicks, The Guitar Shop, etc?????

The-The The-The The-The That's All folks!

Hi, my name is Mark. I'm just getting the hang of this site... People with post counts over 300 scare me.

I'm 16, and I'm trying to figure out what why this site about fishing has amps on it?

Anyway, I caught a trout the other day, and he ran away. :(

Below are some pictures of me while fishing.

1 and 2, while wrastlin' with a trout.

3, while reelin' him in!
