Hi my name is Gary, I play in an original progressive acoustic rock trio from central New York. I play a fretless stingray5 and our singer plays guitar, and our drummer plays djembe and drumset. We have alot of african and latin grooves that add some great textures to our music. We are took this month off to rehurse for the studio. In which we hope to use in order to get some gigs at colleges across the state. I have been a new member of talkbass for about 3 months i think but, can't wait to get the $ to become a supporting member(poor college student/musician). So far, i've really enjoyed the advise and problem solving that i have read. I hope to help people as much as they've helped me. thanks fellow members

Hey there, my name is Dave.

I'm into all kinds of music: from metal to jazz. Although, I have to say that the number one thing that drove me to listen to music other than metal was the bass. I'm not in a band or anything quite yet. I've played for about 4 years but have never been too serious about it. I started playing more for the fun of it than anything, but being on Talkbass has given me a little more appreciation for music in general. As such, I'm definitely looking into learning a little theory on my own, as time allows.

Furthermore, I now know far more about basses than I ever thought I'd know. I actually never would have tried any of the 3 (L2500, Ray 5, Czechtor 5) basses I own and love now were it not for Talkbass.

Ultimately, I guess I'm not really a new member. However, I've just recently become active in the community, and I look forward to a lot more college study time lost to the forums here!

we haven't had one of these threads in a while, so here it is, for all our newer members...

are you new to talkbass? have you been itching for an opportunity to say hi? wanna show some pics of your gear? wanna tell us all your favorite recipes?

we love you already!

Hi my name is fatfunker and I'm an alcoho............. wait that meeting is tonight. I don't know if I am a "newbie" or not but compared to your thread count I guess I am. Any how I have been playing bass for about 10 Years ( I am 24 now) I will post some Mp3's of my band ( so all you real players can tear it apart) any way's my post count won't be very high because I can't see taking the time for ripping on someone for asking for tabs hell I used tabs my first couple years if anything I think it kept me interested in the bass long enough to learn how to really play. oh well that's a whole new thread. Any way's If I can help anyone with a real question I will, but mostly I am just going to sit back and enjoy all the valuable information on this site ;) BTW Cool song JT gotta love the 7 strings.

Hello out there.
My name is Chris Ouellette and I have been playing bass for about 20 years. I became a member a few weeks ago and I have had a great time reviewing the threads and even putting in my own 2 cents when I can. There are some great questions and opinions out there. Although we all can't agree on everything that's written, the discussion is entertaining.

Some of the forum members seem pretty young. I turned 40 two weeks ago

 but I still feel like a big kid when I get to play my bass. I am attaching a pic of my MTD. I suppose one of the good things about turning 40 is I have a bit more disposable income for this expensive hobby. :p

My favorite bassist is Jason Newstead. I know He isnt the best but He is my favorite he turned me onto the bass and i believe has a better attitude then most any other bassist out there. I also Love to listen to Jaco and Wooten.
