Hey Turner! Another one for the Atlanta get togethers.....You can take my place Phoenix. :(

I am Nate, if you didnt figure that out already, I was comtemplating whether or not i should reply to this and i figured i should go ahead and reply just for "S" and "G's".

I live in a very boring town where chocolate is made. All I do is play music, work to save money to buy new gear, sleep and dream about all the things I would like to buy.

Currently I own an old fender P-bass that I "jaco-fied", an Ibanez Roadster 2, and my DP custom 6-string is in the works and should be done in around a month. I play through an Ampeg Bass Rocket or something and an old peavey. I use a boss SYB-3 and a Dunlap bass wah.

I like playing crazy funked out jams, slow tripped out jams. I have a hard time describing the type of music I play because it is very diverse and I never play one specific style it is always a combonation of many.

I play fingerstyle with 4 fingers (thumb, index, middle, ring) and I am currently trying to incorporate my pinky in there too. I slap (double thumb technique mostly) tap, and strum (chords and percussive). I believe my technique is very percussive in nature.

I believe that the bass is more than just a rhythm instrument and I am always pushing the limit of the instrument. I like soloing and playing melodies. Mainly because I get bored playing a bassline and thats one reason I play the way I do, so I don't get bored and fall asleep midway through the song. And I am in all seriousness when I say that because it has happened before.

Thats all I got. Later on

I'm not sure who Orson Scott Card is.

He is one of the most successful sci-fi/fantasy authors in the US - I think he also wrote a book on how to make a million out of writing books! ;)

His most famous and best-liked series of books revolve around "Ender" who saves the earth as a young child by killing off an alien race while he believes he is playing a computer game.

In the last few years Card has started a "shadow" version of this series, from the point of view of other young people who were involved in Ender's story. So the main character in "Ender's Shadow" is called simply : "Bean" !

PS - Card has his own website called "Hatrack River" and you can actualy help him write novels by "becoming" a character and checking what they say/do!

You can also read chapter one of "Ender's Shadow" - all about Bean - online for free!

Hello,
My name is Chia Jong Yeng.I'm 27 and from Singapore.I'm a Chinese of mixed parentage.I use Yamaha basses(but I'm trying to upgrade),ZOOM effects and a Sansamp acoustic DI.I enjoy listening to different types of music and try to combine them to find my own voice and sound.

I'm not really new but I haven't posted many messages so here we go. My name is Chris and I'm 16. I live in Ottawa, Canada. My bass was made by some company Washburn owns. My amp is a Washburn too. They get the job done. I like to play punk, some rock tunes, and am getting interested in learning to play jazz. If you're in the area, go to Steve's Music on Rideau. It's the greatest store for miles. Awesome stuff, helpful people. That's where I go.

hi, my name is bill, and ive been playing for almost a year now. im old, 37. i always wanted to play the bass but never got to it. i now take lessons and make time to practice. ive got a mia jazz and an old 1968 fender bassman that i dug out of an attic. the whole block can now enjoy my music! thanks for the great website, im now hooked.

GTi, it's good to see someone else on here from Cowtown...I moved down here a year and a half ago from Detroit, been on Talkbass for a little longer than that (I think...?)
If you haven't found it yet, there's a website called Cringe.com for Columbus musicians that's pretty good, even though there are some freaks that post every once in a while and ruin it. This forum is so much better than Cringe in terms of the cool people on it and the great attitude.

hi,

i'm 17, i live in london. i've been playng for a year now, on a crappy rip off p-bass which is falling to bits. in the summer i hope to get a job and save up enough to buy a MIM jazz i have my eye on.

i listen to all kinds of music, from metallica to marcus miller, with hendrix and the sex pistols in between. (I HATE nu-metal)

i don't play in a band, but i do perform at a jazz club in richmond (in the suburbs of london) fairly regularly as a fill-in guy.

my biggest influences are cliff burton, jaco, marcus miller, jeff ament, adam clayton and vic wooten.

I think that its a good idea to have the new members introduce themselves. Thank you for the opportunity! (this is my first post)

I have a poor quality 5 string (a korean made instrument available only thru a mail order catalog) that I plan on replacing soon. I have a SWR Workingmans 4x10 cab with a Peavey T MAX two channel head. I also have a Digitech BP8 bass processor and I practice with as Alessis SR15 drum machine that I run thru a Peavey TNT 130 combo amp.
I enjoy the Blues and older Rock and Funk. I dont emmulate any particular bass player and I try to keep my mind open to all musical possibilitys. I hope to learn from and share with you all in times to come. Big Bob
