Newbie here, from London. Just found this site - also hang out at homerecording.com.

Just restarted playing bass a bit less than a year ago after a 23 (yes, 23) year lay off. Got back into music about four years ago (played trombone and bass as a teenager) mostly 'cause of my gf, who is a superb singer and inspired me to start writing songs. So now we have a band, called Vella, doing original stuff which I say is blues but nobody else thinks it is. Once we'd rounded up people to play in our band the bass slot was empty, so that's what I've come back to, and I'm loving it. Our MP3 page at nowhereradio is set as the homepage link below.

Yesterday I bought a new Washburn 2502 (found this site doing my research) - played an XB200 up to now, and rather than sell it for a pittance I am having the frets removed.

Look forward to learning stuff here

Well, I decided to oficially "join" the forum after being a guest for a long long time (still don´t know why). The only forum I used to post was John Petrucci´s.

I live in Argentina, been playing for almost 6 years now, and I really enjoy this forum a lot.
I´ve learned a lot of things, and sometimes got a lot of things to say too, but language is sometimes a limitation.

Anyway, I plan to buy a 5 stringer by the end of the year, and till now, Peavey Cirrus 5 is my top choice followed by Musicman.

Really glad to be part of this community.

Hey, I'm relativley new to TB and have already recieved warm welcomes and friendly help :)
I've been playing over 6 years (yet I still mostly play an Encore precision...hmm:hmm: ).
I like to play and learn all styles and techniques, it really opens doors to new worlds of possible bass lines and grooves, there's my advice :bassist:
Anyway, I'm in Norwich, UK. And I play in a Sonic Youth/Pixies style grunge band: Link Removed
Which is quite odd as my favorite band is The Who :p

i'm 21, and have been playing bass for over 5 years now. i'm mostly into extreme metal, and play in such a band, doing also vocals.
great to be here guys, i can't believe how broad Talkbass is. excellent thing, really...

I've been lurking here for some time, and then I left the beautiful city of Gdynia to work. Now I'm back and ready to play again (a lot of phoning to do)

My name is Dave and I've been (attempting to) playing da bass geetar since December 1990, starting out to Metallica tunes. Now I play a little of everything (diversity is important), and I play with quite a few bands/friends. I gig regularly since 1994. I'm from Québec (that huuuuuge canadian province with not so many people).

Name is __HooBass__, I'm 36, two kids, been playing for 20 years. I'm extremely proud of some of my work, and, well, not of most!

Have recorded, played live a bunch of times, practiced far too much with bands that had more inspiration than talent. Among the highs are a series of "recordings" made by my high school band, playing CBGB's, and meeting Stu Hamm. Among the lows are playing a dive in Hell's Kitchen and many of my attempts at art!

Hey everyone! Im new here and I just wanted to do the introduction thing. Ive been playing electric bass for about 10 years and acoustic for little over 2 years. Ive recently started lessons for the first time (wish I had done that a looooong time ago) I have to say this is the best website ever! I hope to get some pix of my basses and amps on here soon. Well, I guess thats about it. Glad to be part of the group!!!

if you are tired of trying to pull of hard and energy comsuming licks on the electric guitar, or nearly breaking your arm missing a symbol (personal expiernce), thwn switch to the Bass. I'm somewhat ashamed to admit I've been lurking here for probably close to two years... I finally registered now that I'm back playing again. I started playing around 13 years ago, but haven't really played for the last 7 - I'm trying to get back into it since I have just bought a house and can finally practice at a decent volume level (no more apartments!).

I've learned a lot from visiting Talkbass regularily, and it's helped inspire me to start playing again. It is frustrating as my skills have become so rusty, although I have already seen improvement over a few weeks so I know I can get back to where I was before (and beyond). Also, once my skills are back up a bit, I'd like to take lessons, something I never did before and regret.
