New mesa subway amps and cabs!

Considiring price, weight, size, impedance, 12'' or 15" or 10" in all mesa sw cabs. In a not so far future in think about getting one, I don't know which one and I know it will not be in the store I can make a good test so...

But I think the best bang for the buck ratio could be the 212. Just an impression on paper. But I love 15".

I tried the 2x12 and the 15 at Mesa Hollywood. Both cabs are outstanding. 2x12 excels at the modern scoop vibe and the 15” has a weightier, more direct bloom and midrange. The high end on the 15” blew me away... it does not lack! 2x12 might be a tad punchier but I wanted an easily mic’d cab. I went with the 15 as the mids sounded more traditional to me. The lightweight factor on these cabs is outrageous.

I'd really like to A-B these new Mesa cabs against my Barefaced Super Twin. The watts are a little lower. My D800 does do 2 ohms. Hmm....maybe both!

I have a BF ST. That cab wants for nothing.

The soundman for one of the bands I play with actually prefers the sound of my Audix D4 on the SW115 over the sound of the DI - I have to admit, it does sound great out front that way...

Yes, thank you sacahill42. They just arrived and for all you Walkabout owners who have been patiently waiting for Walkabout ears, these new 1 piece ears are backwards compatible to the original Walkabouts as well. Silver faced WA owners note that they unfortunately, are only available in black.

Quite a bit (approaching 100% attenuation), though I don't have the exact data at hand.

Perfect. Thank you sir. I’m getting quite a bit of upper end clank with my WD800 and 15” combo when I play my freshly strung P. No fault of the amp setup at all... just my digging stroke and zesty strings enhance the clak-clak and I find it better to mitigate with the tweeter rather than EQ the whole rig.

No fault of the amp setup at all... just my digging stroke and zesty strings enhance the clak-clak and I find it better to mitigate with the tweeter rather than EQ the whole rig.

Maybe a little bit of both tweeter and EQ?

Hmmm Having just the 2x12 I dont get any feeling the mid is scooped, unless I eq it that way.
I get more than I need midrange from it flat with my wd800, and have to slightly eq it a bit to tame
the mid when playing with a pick. Alembic, Musician, P bass, Casady all sound the way they should, and its not scooped for sure...IMHO of course.

Didn’t mean to infer that it’s naturally scooped on its own, but the response between the two speakers lends itself well to the Sadowsky tone if that’s what you’re after. It’s not lacking in the mids at all. Apologies for any confusion.

The clank zone on my bass is right around 2.5khz. I use the EQ to tame that, problem solved. Love the 3 bands of semi-parametric on the WD800.

I play mostly hard rock to metal, and run my 115 and 210s with the tweeter all the way down, all the time. There is no lack of clank and high end, ever.

They both use essentially the same drivers, so thermal power handling will be about the same on both.
