New mesa subway amps and cabs!

The 210 takes some volume to shine. 115 210, I ran it Tuesday and it was meh at lowish vol. Last night I put the 115 back up top and ran it alone, much more satisfying for ME personally. The 112+ will work better with lower volume. If you're cranking it out, go for the 210.

One man's opinion. Try em yourself if you can.

That's the only "similarity". Just because the metalwork is the same has little to do with driver performance. Yes, the shipping boxes are the same, but the shipping boxes are the same for many other drivers as well ;)

Well I just used the WD800 in a session with the DI post-EQ. Holy f*ckin smokes this thing cooks! Just the tube stage alone with a little bit of hair on it sets the mix to stun. I didn't think the EQ section would be super useful in the studio, but a couple dB of bass boost and the Passive Mid set to 2pm with my '59 P Bass just made me an extremely happy camper.

Just confirming that it's ok to run the DI without a speaker load, correct? It wasn't specified in the manual, but I assume that since headphones are ok, the DI must be the same.

In any case, if you guys with WD800s haven't recorded with it yet, do it NOW. :)

Correct, no speaker load is necessary.

This is addressed in the headphone section since that's where the question usually comes up. I can see where the confusion arises though as it does apply to the DI section as well.

the mid when playing with a pick. Alembic, Musician, P bass, Casady all sound the way they should, and its not scooped for sure...IMHO of course.

By scooped I mean just a little bit of color in the mid, I am sure both cabs are very linear but 12 is twelve and 15 is fifteen after all. Thanks for the info.

Keto, Are you saying the WD800 works well with the Subway 1x15 at low volumes too? When you said you put it back up top, does that mean you only used the 1x15 subway but it was elevated sitting atop the 2x10?

I might try a single1x15 Subway and see if that will suffice for some of my low to medium volume band gigs. I am going to try and demo a WD800 Wednesday night if possible.

I don't own a WD800, had one here for 3 days and it just isn't my sound - not a thing wrong with the head.

Yes, I frequently stack the 115 on top of the 210 but only plug in the 115. Getting it off the floor makes it much easier for everyone, but especially me, to hear me. I've used the 115 solo extensively at auditions, rehearsals, and gigs. Love it. I play mostly rock, classic right up to hard metal.

*For my usage*, I find the 210 to be lacking at low-mid volume. It doesn't have the fullness and richness I prefer, missing a lot of low mids. This goes away to a certain extent when *I* feed it, or a pair of them, *a lot* of power. The low mids are the land I prefer to work in with the most focus when dialing in my tone, and the 115 has it in spades, along with a great top and bottom - it's really an excellent all around cab. I've never thought 'Oh, I could use just a little more ______' when using it. I can always get there with a tweak on an amp or bass knob.

Hello. I have always loved Mesa bass amps/cabs. I’ve owned the 400+, BB750 (with a PH412!) and Carbine M6 (212 combo). I ADORED the Carbine! So quick and muscular. When the Subway Line came out I was stoked, my back is in fine condition and I’d like to keep it that way as I age but the other lightweight amps just didn’t do it for me. As I stated the M6 combo blew me away but every now and again when lifting it I’d get a little quirky feeling in my spine.
I’m a love it or lump it kind of guy and not much into (or very good at) knob twiddling. Mesa amps and cabinets just sound great right out of the gate, I love the way they are “voiced”. I switched to the Subway line (D800, 115 & 112 cabs) as soon as they came on my radar. I’ve been giging that rig for over 2 years now and I love it, everyone loves it. I still find myself pining for the M6 punch tho. Between the D800+ and WA800 (with the damping clockwise) what would get me closer to the M6 voice? I’m torn because I don’t use the voice control much on my D800 and I don’t feel I’d use the bright switch that’s on the 800+ much ether. Any advice (including settings) is appreciated. I’m going to buy one of them soon and would appreciate the versatility of the WA800 but am undecided. I plan to get a 212 or 215 as well.
I have been found of 12s for some time now but something in my gut tells me I should go for the 215 and it’s beyond the form factor (tilt back, rails). Thank you in advance! Manny.
