Bass player here (on talkbass? Weird i know) chiming in. The video was a quick half assed demo, and thats perfectly fine. In fact he stated that was his intention. But complaining that so and so company should have released a PRO demo? Tell you what go on YouTube and type in "EHX bass big muff". See that list of about 50 short demos, pretty sure those arent PRO demos made by EHX lol

The thing is, remember bass player here, i cant recall how many times i see a fuzz/distortion video and think to myself man wish they would of showed how it handles chords. Ive tried several fuzz pedals that just cant handle chords, they break up, thats the nature of some pedals. I dont even use chords all that often but if the situation calls for it glad it can pull it off. In fact some fuzzes have sounded so nice sustaining a chord that you decide "man i have to incorporate it somewhere." Pedals that lead to inspiration of new ideas, thats a beautiful thing :)

Oh and one last thing, i dont think anyone here who hears one of these quick home made demos expects that to be the exact tone we will achieve. But we do enjoy to hear tonal variety and after sampling so many pedals we have gotten good at predicting somewhat how the pedal will sound for us. So many factors go into each of our tones that results will differ for everyone but we can formulate a good idea. All in all sounds like a interesting pedal to me that i will want to sample. And i wouldnt want to now sample it if i hadnt heard how it sounded. So the demo accomplished its job of peaking my interest.

Haters gonna hate.

Geez people! It wasn't a pro demo and that wasn't supposed to be a pro demo. It still sounded killer considering the quality. I thought Ryan did a good job getting people that follow his social media pages excited about it. Pretty sure that was its sole purpose at this point.

I thought the Demo was much better than Tony Levin trying to convince you that an EHX DBBM sounds as good as a Sovtek. :)

Yeah, it was a fun little demo and the real stuff is coming soon. Time to put away the torches. Besides, it's basically a Rat optimized for bass. Everyone knows what a Rat sounds like.

F.Y.I. Tony Levin didn't make a direct comparison between the EHX DBBM and any other Muff in the video. Get your facts right.

Think I'll go play with my EHX DBBM and its' new pal Dr. Scientist The Elements. They seem to want to ' play in the dirt' together! :)

I just watched that video. No he didn't. He said he had been using the Sovteks since the earth cooled, and the first thing he wanted to check is if the DBBM had that classic Big Muff sound, and he said it does. That is definitely not saying it was as good as the Sovteks. Besides, it was an ad for the EHX DBBM. What's he supposed to say? "Boy this pedal sucks. Go get an old Russian Sovtek off Ebay"?

He said it is 6-7 times better than the big muffs before it right at the end. Of course I don't expect him to say anything less. He is an endorser. Doesn't mean it's true. Just means he got paid and did his job is all.

Tony was joking (Did you notice he was smiling?) about the ' pi' value. He smiled stating that it was "at least 3.14 (pi value), 6,7 times better than the ones that came before it". It was obviously intended to be humorous. Jeez, you are one cantankerous argumentative son of a gun o_O. What's your malfunction?

I have to admit upon review that his wording was probably designed to imply that the DBBM was as good as the Sovteks. But so what? Isn't it obvious he's doing a commercial?
