New Origin Effects DCX Bass

Finally got the dcx in. Can't believe how transparent it can be, along with taking the blanket off of my tone. There have only been a few instances where a pedal has left me as shocked as I was when it was first turned on. Admittedly I was fairly doubtful of the all the reviews. Having played expensive units from companies people seem to love, its not uncommon for it to be mostly hype. THIS however, has to be one of the best sounding pedals I've ever used for bass. The ability to also add some gritty drive to the transparent nature of this pedal is astounding.

I have #0025 and love the EQ mode. I bought and sold the first version of the DCX Bass but immediately ended up missing the analog mojo it delivers, so I picked up one of the new blackouts (pictured here with my 10th anniversary laser engraved Cali 76 CB). I replaced the knobs on my black edition DCX Bass with a grey set from Origin Effects to make it easier to see the settings.

I received the DCX today. HOWEVER, I also checked my bank balance soon after and realised that buying the BassRig SV, the Cali76 CB AND the DCX Bass in the same fortnight wasn't a great idea, especially before Christmas... :D
So I'm going to return it, although I got to give it a quick try at home (not the best thing, it's always much better in practice with the band). It's alright, I felt like it was quite "fuzzy" in its nature, but again, not the best test situation.
I think I'll buy it again next year and will give it a proper band try out. I got to say though, I'm happy with what I'm getting out of the BassRig SV + Cali76, it's got some nice drive to it.

Christmas is one day of the year. Pedals are 365. Give it some more time ;)

Ok. I finally got to mess with my black DCX bass I got last week or so.

I need more time with it alone and with the Bassrig. My 72 P bass and Moollon P5 loved the dcx on eq mode. For some reason, it didn’t play well with my 63 P with flats. I think I’ll have to experiment more there as well.

overall, I’m really impressed and would use it by itself as my toneshaper no question. I’m hoping to tune it in drive mode with the Bassrig.

Likely in the minority opinion, I'd have returned the Cali, kept the DCX, and used the difference to give a gift to the family, especially when you kept the BassRig.

I'd have kept the DCX Bass over the Cali76 CB as well. I haven't played a BassRig, but pedal preamps aren't my thing (I use an on-board preamp and a tube DI) so I doubt I would have kept the Super Vintage.
