Tech 21 should REALLY consider adding a switch the top for easy access. I get that Geddy may never use this feature fair enough he doesn’t need to he’s Geddy Lee, but for the rest of us mere mortals it would be awesome to be able to quickly switch from dual output to combined output easily without having to remove from pedalboards / remove battery doors or other wise fuss about with it.
The real world of many gigs and sessions and that channels / setup times are often limited.

Awesome sounding pedal though !! Love that the tight switch from the YYZ is added. I always have that engaged on my YYZ.

Thanks,the video explains it.Can't understand the secrecy or why the button isn't on the front with the rest.

I still have the YYZ and it became a favorite,but unfortunately it just stopped working so it's in the shop.The tech said it was not the first he's come across with the ailment,so I didn't want to replace it with the same thing.I got a big discount on the 2112 so I went for it.

I haven't tried it yet (the wife works late and is still in bed) so I don't know the difference.I would imagine if it sounds good like this I'd leave it engaged.Thanks to the fine folks here I found out about this because I was going to use a splitter,this is much better.

Nice rig.Ain't the DI-2112 the balls? Though I'm having fun with this now, how I'd loved this years ago.I may be mistaken but imo back then the only things I remember to get the sound were the Alembic preamp or SWR Interstellar O.D. and I couldn't afford either as both were close to a months pay.The current generation of bass players are lucky with all the great gear available today.And most won't break your back or wallet.

mine crapped out on me today. The light comes on when I plug it in the fades away immediately and no sound will come through. I tried other power cables and even batteries and I've got nothing. I just bought it in August so hopefully Tech 21 can take care of me.

In the meantime, I'm going to need to try to replicate the sound as best I can. Does anyone know what the eq settings are for the deep channel?

Have you tried running on batteries?

Just ordered one, without trying it beforehand. Went through Thomann, so there’s a 30-day return policy if I don’t like it.

I currently play through a BDDI v2, which I love, but I had a bout of GAS and wanted to give the DI-2112 a try.

How does it compare to a BDDI V2? Will I get similar tones (and more)?

I never had a V2, but like just about everybody else I did own a v1 back in the day. I have to believe the Geddy will give you that and so much more. Having now owned both the YYZ pedal and rackmount, I can safely say the Geddy is surprisingly flexible. It doesn't just Geddy. It does so much more, whereas I feel like the BDDI is more of a one-trick pony. Though it's a pretty decent trick. The Geddy might be more comparable to something like the RPM, since that's what it's based on, but the deep channel is some serious secret sauce that sets it apart from everything else to me.

Received it today. First impression on my small amp at home: this thing’s got potential. It’s not super difficult to find a good sound on it, although I’m not yet sure how to balance the Drive level as well as the Deep level AND saturation. Any tips on that?
(I’ve merged both channels via the switch inside the unit).

I kind of A/B’d it with my BDDI V2, and I found the DI-2112 a bit punchier (probs thanks to the Deep channel) and clearer as well. Next proper test will be on Monday, during my (covid-safe, socially distanced masked up) band practice.


One thing I didn’t really get though: the Tight switch. When on, the sound loses so much low end, I don’t know if it’s actually usable... unless, that’s where the Deep channel plays it’s role, to balance out? Again, any tips on that? Thanks!
