After checking out the pics in the Reverb ad for this amp - I realized there is no headphone output . What would I need to do to play this silently in my apartment ? I gather this is true for many other tube heads so I guess I shouldn't have been surprised but it does present a problem if it'll require much coin to get to that point - thanks , Kelly

Well, first of all, since it's a tube head you cannot run it without it being plugged in to a speaker or some other kind of load, or you'll damage the amp. So if you want to play silently, you'll need to get a load box capable of handling over 100W. Ideally that load box would have the headphone out, or else youd then have to find some other way to get the silent signal to a headphone amp of some kind. Two Notes makes some products that might work, but you'll probably spend as much on that as you will on the amp. There is probably cheaper stuff available too, but
Bottom line: for silent practice at home there are probably better options out there.

This thing is easy to built by a local tech, a 4 or 8 ohms resistor and some others to create a pad for the headphone (to be calculate or cut and try) there is no magic there.
The Traynor is not a bedroom amp. May I suggest that you consider the Traynor and this for home practicing...

While I understand your situation (one that, in reality, every musician faces - the need for quiet practice), lack of a headphone amp should not really be holding you back from purchasing any amp. Spend a few extra dollars and get a little vox or blackstar or aliexpress piece.
Then you have a portable little thing that will help you practice anywhere. Instead of lugging around an amp.

Thanks for the suggestion - I do have two very good headphone amps [ a Cafe Walter and a Raven PH 1 }and a couple of pairs of very good headphones [ Sony and Grado ] - so I'm covered there for sure . My reasoning behind not getting a tube head sans the unobtainable headphone out is that I so much prefer the sound coming out of an amp and cab into a room . My hope being that an amp with headphone jack might get me closer to that ideal and still be ultra quiet . I guess I could DI out into a board w.o using the speaker if that's possible but I don't know if it is or isn't . As the saying goes "ignorance is bliss and I'm very happy ! " ... Kelly
In the pic above it specifically states on the back of the amp: "Attention: Before powering make sure speakers are connected."
Not a solution to the headphone issue by itself... But, To protect the amp, a basic dummy load is cheap enough.

If you prefer sound of an amp and cab into a room...I don't think headphones plugged into an amp will get you similar feeling.
AFAIK, there are very few all-tube heads that can be operated without speaker connected. Ampeg PF-20T and Ampeg PF-50T are ones which I am aware of...

I feel like the amp and cab sound is more nuanced than any headphone setup I've tried either out of an amp jack or thru either of my headphone amps . I have owned a smaller Eden 250w US made head - several older Traynor yb1's - two Kustom 500 's - a Yamaha PB1 into a QSC 1600 power amp - all running into either a Dr Bass 2 x 10 or a Nahas single 12 cab . My favorite is the QSC /Yamaha/ Nahas combo for it's massive headroom that allows for using a very light touch . I use the Kustom's most of the time and am fine with them - especially now that I've added a Barber Linden pedal to the mix but I think in general - I am a more power is better kind of guy ! ...Kelly
