New Years a Here...Who has Gigs, and are you doing anything special?

I have a gig at a stuffy yacht club...great pay though. The only shenanigans I can think of is a little crop dusting...maybe wash some of this...

Got a local bar gig tonight, playng for the door at $10/head. Capacity is around 300.
Last year's band did extremely well, hopefully we do decently, though we don't have the following that they do.

I'm also playing tomorrow night with a pick up band I play with 5 or 6 times a year at the next bar over. Since it is a Sat. night they thought they should have some entertainment.
Not sure how that will turn out crowd-wise, but I imagine the pay is the standard rate, so a little extra cash in my pocket.

I'll have to load out my amp tonight into my car since I don't know when bar #1 will be open tomorrow.
Usually we load out the next day, or in this case it will be Sunday.

It's nice to do a bar gig, all I've ever done on NYE were private parties, so it's a very different vibe.
We're a bar band, so it should feel more comfortable.

Got a gig! Playing 9pm-1am, it's a rock/blues/variety band with a guitarist/drummer that are seasoned professionals, me on bass (21 yr old college student) and a semi-local female vocalist who made it quite far in the American Idol auditions before she was cut before the actual show portion.

The part that's a little nerve racking for me is a) they're seasoned professionals, and b) I just got the charts on Wednesday, and there's a good 25 or so of them on the setlist, most of which I was unfamiliar with.

I'm surprised my chops aren't dead from all the practicing I've been doing...should be a VERY fun night though!

Put me on the list of people that despise NYE gigs but, yeah. I'm working. There won't be anything special going on, Typical NYE. Bar packed with amateurs that only drink once a year, don't know how to drink, don't know how to behave when they get drunk, don't know how to drive drunk, don't know how to get home safely without having to drive drunk...

Give me a bar full of professional drinkers anytime. You can keep amateur night.

I agree, and refuse to play on nye

In our band - that would be his option....we would send him pics of the show, with the guy who sat in for him.

Nawww we don't play that way.We all get along well and wont cause an issue over a gig although I would love to play as I said. Besides, he writes all the songs and sings 95% of the songs every show..cant replace. Have a great show!

I hear ya....

We aren't mean - we just play anytime we can. we have 6-8 different guitar/vocal guys that swap out from time to time due to schedules, and another couple of drummer friends. I have never had to miss a date, but have a couple of bass friends that are happy to all fill in - so we can gig pretty much no matter who can't make it.

Bad JuJu is more than a band.....its a brotherhood.

:D

True dat.

And to all my TB brothas and sistas, please remember it's Amature Night, and if you're out and about, please keep your wits about you and be safe.
