New: Zoom B3n Multi-Effects

You’ll need a Helix for that.
You dont need an Helix. Boss have several pedals which offer this function. The GT 100 have it and is not so expansive as the Helix but it s bigger than the b3n.
I'm using it on bass and it works very well.
Even the Boss GT 1 B has parralel compression and effects, and it can work with battery.
You can read a comparison here:

Thanks, I’ll check it out.

I also want to be able to make an amp/cab patch and be able to send the amp/cab sound to FOH and just the amp sound to my bass rig on stage. We've got two outputs on the back - we should be able to configure what comes out of each.
Just a crazy thought but if you added a Mooer Radial pedal it might be possible to do this using a spliter after the B3n but before the Mooer Radial pedal...

Having just got the Zoom B3n, I am wondering, what, if any, would be a good starting point to dial in a nice sound. As far as what effects and such to put in a chain. I have a 2018 Mustang Bass and a Fender Rumble 200 amp. I have been just playing my bass through the amp and calling it good. Would appreciate any help given as far as a basic effects chain starting point.
Thanks,
Mark

The echoplex preamp is a great pre amp to thicken out the sound and adds nice rounded warmth, i use it as a bass for all my non amp sim pathes. And i use the new glam compressor on a low mild setting before, as well, then add any grind fuzz distortion modulation after that.

If you aren’t going to be using cab sims (which I wouldn’t recommend through an amp) I would build a patch around the MiniMark amp sim. It only takes up one slot and has supper easy to use EQ. I would add LowEQ set as a high pass filter, and HighEQ set as a low pass filter, and then the Glam Comp. You would still have three slots to use for FX, and it would give you the ability to get a really phat tone!

I would dial in your sound in your combo (which has a great preamp and sounds awesome) and then just use the b3n for effects.

That’s currently what I am doing anyway. When I plug straight in to the board- that’s when the amp and cab models come out to play.

If I want to kick on a different ‘base’ tone, say for slapping, I use the dark glass b7k preamp to add sparkle etc.

How’s that mustang treating you? They look so cool!

Out off interest why would you not recommend using amp sims through an amp? I use them all the time through my ashdown mag300, I use it either direct into the fx return and just use master volume. Or all eq off/flat with gain at aroud 9-10 o clock and again then just control master volume for output. This way it does not colour the amp sims too much but gives them a little warm and thickness.

I didn’t recommend not using amp sims, I recommended not using cab sims.

I guess at the time I just liked my cabs (Ampeg SVT210av’s) so much I didn’t feel the need to change them. The cab sims are indispensable through an FRFR system!
I like to add just a hair of the b15n cab going through my real cabs sometimes on the b15 patch, not a lot just enough. To my ear, it gives it more of the tone of my real b15 through a modern system.

I guess at that point I am trying to recreate a sound rather than sounding just like my regular rig.
