I did not expect the Seahawks to beat up the Giants as much as they did. Neither offense was exactly stellar, but the Giants were hapless. Have they played the Bears or the Broncos yet?

How can one not like Geno Smith? He's a player I'll stop to watch these days. I get it, he isn't super duper talented, but the man has some qualities I admire on the football field.

Posted this elsewhere, but it certainly applies here. My Chicago buddies are rightfully depressed about the state of the Bears.

He's not a once in a generation talent, but I think he's underrated. And he's proven himself to be a great human and leader for more than a year now. He's a guy I root for independent of the team.

The Bears could still snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. Don't worry.

The sad part of today is that Dick Butkus is gone at 80. I wanted to grow up to be Dick Butkus when I was about eleven.
He was a Bear through and through. After he stopped playing he was in the WGN radio booth for a while and he wore his Bears heart on his sleeve same as Santo did for the Cubs. I can remember some bad streaks of play where Wayne Larrivee would be calling play by play and you knew it was about to go pear shaped 'cuz you'd hear Butkus say "Awww GEEZ!", LOL. Bears had a lot of great linebackers over the years but it sure had to help that when each new guy came in the team could point to #51 and say "THAT's the guy we want you to play like".

I gotta admit I’m worried for my Falcs this Sunday. Art Smith wants to show the world he can win without pass plays to his #4 overall and #8 overall drafted receiving targets. And Ridder is scared and holds onto the ball too long. I fear Will Anderson may set a personal best sacks.

It’s worth noting our backup quarterback made light work of the 2022 Eagles defense last season. I don’t think Heinicke is a long term answer but he’s a world better than our starter.

Coach Smith’s biggest handicap is that it’s more important to be “right” than to win. And benching the starting QB he didn’t trust until after elimination last season and didn’t trust to take snaps preseason, well that would be admitting he was wrong. And that’s not happening. I think we take the L.
