Uh oh.....the Vikings are going after Steve Hutchinson. This is going to jack up the Seattle payroll if they have to give a guard that kind of money. He'll become the highest paid guard in the NFL, and be right up there with Walter Jones.

WOW!! Some of these NFL owners are just idiots.

the team that i am really excited about is my browns. took care of a huge O line need by signing lecharles bentley and shaffer...also got ted washington to finally give them some muscle at nose tackle. we can probably trade out jeff faine for a third or a fourth and put bentley at center...or he could move over and play guard. but he really is a great center and he will be great in a browns uniform. i was really hoping we would aggressively go after will witherspoon, but it looks like he's off to st. louis.

and this....talk about incredibly stupid. this guy is awful.

What is scary is that Arizona had one of the best passing offenses last year! Edge will take some heat off of Warner, Bolden, and Fitzgerald giving them a chance to open the game up a bit.

Man, this reminds me of when they traded Faulk to the Rams so they could pick Edge in the draft. It is sort of like "deja vu" except the Colts are not getting a killer first round pick. :(

Hmm, with Edge gone now, I wonder how many times Peyton is going to see the blitz?

Oh yea, they lost Tripplet to Buffalo as well! :scowl:

John Clayton of ESPN is form Seattle. He does a three hour show on our local sports radio station here in Seattle on Saturday mornings.

Even he isn't sure where Indy will find a replacement for James. He said signing Thornton is their top priority over anyone else ever since the season ended.

Boy, I bet Seattle is wishing they would have used the franchise tag instead of the transition tag. The Vikings' contract offer is just ridiculous, though. The difference between a great guard and a solid guard isn't all that staggering, and that team needs help in a lot of places. One man does not an offensive line make, especially if that man doesn't play left tackle.

Just like every year, these teams offering gigantic contracts to FA's seem to forget that football is a team sport, and that there aren't honestly that many guys in the league worth breaking the bank over. I guess making a splash is fun, though.

I think not using the right tag on Hutch is the first mistake Ruskell has made since he came over here. Everything else he has been right on.

My local sports radio station was interviewing a guy who covers the Vikings this morning. He compared this offer to Hutch to the one the Jets offered Curtis Martin back when Martin was a Patriot. This deal is so front loaded that it is going to tie up Seattle's hands for the next couple years salary cap wise.

Yep. Cherry pickin' off good teams. It's happening to Pittsburgh, Indy, and Seattle. It just really is lame since it blows the financial structure apart for these teams. Anyone remember Alvin Harper, Larry Brown, or Dexter Jackson? :rollno:

Indy has a history of letting LBs go, so I guess it isn't all that big of a deal. I'm just surprised since everything I read said Indy was going to push hard to keep Thornton, even at the expense of James. What is even worse was that Thornton was going to come visit Seattle this week.

I've been a Bucs fan all my life. My first football game was actually Bucs vs. Saints in Tampa, back when they were orange.

In all honesty, I think this will be Alstott's last year. He's been playing for a long time, and the way he plays- I'm just not sure he can keep it up for another two or three years.

Cadillac will have another good season, though. Not as good as last year, since I don't think Gruden will run him as much, but I still think he'll have a great year. If he keeps it up, the Bucs have a shot at going deep into the playoffs next season.

I guess I have to trust in Polian to make the right moves. :hmm: He has always been able to draft really good and manages to find the bargain FA's.

I admit though, I'm more than a little concerned with losing two key players.

i agree.

so it looks like oakland might get culpepper because of this. culpepper and moss back together? that could be scary...and it would be a helluva lot better than them drafting vince young who has bust written all over him.

Yeah, you're right. NOTHING! If Hamlin hadn't had his skull smashed in with a street sign, Manuel would have sat on the bench all year.

I admittedly know nothing about Manual, but from what I read, he played pretty well in Hamlin's place. The scouting material I read on him is that he is slow and slow to react in space, which is one thing the Packers DO NOT need. I would assume though, they are planning at using him at strong safety, and Nick Collins at free safetey, since Collins pretty much has corner speed. Now I think of it, I guess that makes sense. Is Manual known as a strong tackler? If so, he'd certainly be an improvement over Mark Roman (all 185 lbs of him). From what The Milwaukee JS says, Manual is already pencilled in as the starter.

As an aside, whats up with the Viqueens signing every Packer they can the last few years? Seems like a bit of purple jealousy at the mighty green and gold. I at least take comfort in knowing they overpayed for each and every one of them (although I do wish the Packers would have retained Sharper last year, and Longwell this year).
The Viqueens are supposedly also pursuing William Henderson and Craig Nall.
