I watched the whole game and I agree. He is going to be special, but he's not special yet. He hasn't won an NFL game. He made a lot of rookie mistakes, too. Not just the turnovers, but the sure TD he threw wide at the end of the game. And the amount of run plays designed for him should make any Panthers fan worry that he's going to get injured doing that. After all, the have DeAngelo frickin Williams, but didn't use him hardly at all. Really not a good game plan to keep the Packers D off-balance. After 2 games, it's obvious the Packers defense is struggling. Not enough pressure up front on the QB, and way too many mistakes from the secondary. Carolina has to be the best 0-2 team out there. They played well.

And they play in a division with two of th best pressure defenses in football, the Lions and the Packers. Matthews and Sue are going to get to know Cutler quite well this year.

We both underestimated the Lions defense and the general suckiness of the Chiefs.

The Lions look like the real deal this year, they dominated a pretty good TB team last week and then they played oh well the Cheifs. The only team that I've seen that looked worse than this years Cheifs was the 0-16 Lions.

I watched Newton and I'm hoping all the people who said he couldn't play are busy eating their words. This guy is clearly the real deal. Give that team a running game and they could make a run at the playoffs THIS year. But since they have no running game, they'll be lucky to go 8-8.

But the Packers are making it happen...they are just beautiful to watch. Never doubted for a moment that they'd come roaring back.

And my Seahawks appear to be a solid contender in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes.

The Patriots looked pretty good today, what with Brady having another monster game and the defense coming up big on key plays, but what's with the Chargers anyways? A team with such talent, priming themselves for a championship run, and they always seem to shoot themselves in the foot at precisely the wrong times. I can't recall ever seeing another team quite like them.

Also, defenses are looking a bit rusty from a shortened training camp. Fourteen QBs passed for at least 250 yards today, with the top 8 passing for over 300yds (as of this writing). I'm beginning to wonder if this season will be a "Year of the Passer". Guess we'll know for sure in the weeks to come.

The Pats passing game is usually pretty good, but I doubt Brady and company will put up the monster numbers he has been when he faces a team with a very physical defense, such as the Jets. :hiding:

Yep, but there was no facet of that game that the Lions didn't outplay Tampa Bay except perhaps return to game. On that day the Lions were clearly the better team. My biggest complaint about the Lions watching that game was that they took the foot off the gas. And I'm not suggesting that the Lions are the class of the NFC or anything. To me the class of the NFC are the Packers and the Eagles. Below them are several good teams who have a shot at 10 wins but aren't substantially better than each other. I'd put both the Lions and Tampa Bay in that group.

As a Lions fan though, I suspect the Lions will improve as the season progresses. Stafford is one game away from the end of a first season worth of games. And the D is young and Farley should be ready to contribute next week. So starting out the season outplaying a pretty good team and destroying a pathetic one is a good start.

Lets have a bit of clarity about Houston.

They've beat two suck for Luck teams. They SHOULD be 2-0 right now. Beating a team with a winning record and a ranked offense/defense will say more about them than winning games that they are expected to win. What I DO like about them most though is Mario with his hand off the ground. As he learns to operate in that role .. I think he's going to explode in the QB terrorizing department.

Not bad for a team I call the afterbirth :D The Oilers/Titans were the baby in Houston. The Texans are what came after ... they were named after their Grandpa from North Texas.

This just in, the Titans are a balanced team. Matty Iceberg ( he's older than Ryan :D ) has just played two games with more than a passable ( HA ! ) report card. The defense is also much more stout than they were given credit for having. The old Achilles heel was the pass defense. I don't think that is a weakness any more. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. The AFC South is anyone's division.

The Titans lost to a team the jets beat by like 40 points.

The AFC South is, the city that had the Oilers Texans, to lose.

The Dolphins are a quality team (where's Greg when I need him?), #6 D last year ran by one of the best D coordinators in the game, a monster WR, the best tackle in the last decade and a QB who just threw for 400 yards.

Peyton Manning doesn't play defense and isn't on the punt coverage unit so a beat down on the Colts is still something to be proud of.

I agree with your assessment. But their O line is not the Bears O Line, they aren't great at run blocking but they protect the QB's pretty good. I also think their DB's are going to surprise some people this year. Spevey and Delmas are healthy at Safety. And Eric Wright was a nice pick up at CB and Chris Houston is getting better and more confident every game. They had three pics today. But they still don't have that dominating shut down corner. I suspect the defense if they stay healthy will be one of the top five defenses in the league.

My biggest question for the Lions is will they have enough running game to keep defenses honest. And I don't know yet. They didn't exactly chew up yardage against the Chiefs. And what kept the TB game from being a blow out was the inability to hold the ball with the running attack in the 4th quarter.
