Yep, but there was no facet of that game that the Lions didn't outplay Tampa Bay except perhaps return to game. On that day the Lions were clearly the better team. My biggest complaint about the Lions watching that game was that they took the foot off the gas. And I'm not suggesting that the Lions are the class of the NFC or anything. To me the class of the NFC are the Packers and the Eagles. Below them are several good teams who have a shot at 10 wins but aren't substantially better than each other. I'd put both the Lions and Tampa Bay in that group.

As a Lions fan though, I suspect the Lions will improve as the season progresses. Stafford is one game away from the end of a first season worth of games. And the D is young and Farley should be ready to contribute next week. So starting out the season outplaying a pretty good team and destroying a pathetic one is a good start.

I think the Lions will miss the playoffs, but only because of their division. I have been super tough on them throughout the offseason because I'm so used to them being horrible, having never seen a winning Lions season and only being alive for two. Also I hate Fairley more than any player I've ever seen.

I'd put the Lions above the Bucs. I think the Bucs are this years 2010 Texans.

The Pats passing game is usually pretty good, but I doubt Brady and company will put up the monster numbers he has been when he faces a team with a very physical defense, such as the Jets.

That's true, and that'll be the acid test for the Pats. They'll be playing the Jets in Foxboro on Oct. 9, and they'll be in NY on Nov. 13. That's still a few weeks away, so as I said we'll see how passing yards leaguewide will look by then.

The Pats will also be in Pittsburgh on Oct. 30. Another tough test from another physical defense.

My apologies to Mr. Newton for underestimating his talents. I figured the Packers would shut him down better than they did. But hey, Matt Hasselbeck popped for 300+ against a good Ravens defense today too.

So yeah, Pittsburgh beat Seattle. Sorry, even as a Steeler fan, I wasn't impressed with the performance. The defense really stepped it up midway through the fourth when it looked like Seattle was going to score and break the shutout, but other than that, it was mostly ho-hum to me with the corners getting caught out of position or sleeping on multiple plays. I'm guessing LeBeau threatened to fine everyone if Seattle scored, or offered a big bonus if they kept the shutout. Tomlin is still benching Farrior for entire series, and that pisses me off.

I am excited about my Lions, but also realistic. I do expect them to finish 2nd in that division and make the playoffs, but they need to shore up the O Line and DBs before they're a realistic contender.

You mean the only O-line that hasn't allowed a sack yet this year? Or the DBs that have given up the least TD passes in the league?

I'm more worried that they might begin to believe the hype that will be coming their way.

Dude and Dudes...I'm happy for you guys and everything. You guys got a team this year. We might actually get to see the game at Ford's theater this year and not see 1/2 the stadium with brown paper grocery bags on their heads. For your sake, and just so you don't get too over-hyped, look at who you beat, an above average team, and a team likely to finish at the bottom of the league. It's only game two. Better to have this conversation in week 6 or 8. You haven't won the superbowl just yet!

Bills' first half looked not very good, but second half... SWEET JESUS THAT WAS AWESOME!

Really hoping we can at least put up a good fight against Marsha next week... Would be awesome to beat that team for once.

You're right man, KC sucks, they only won their division last year. I wish the Lions did something impressive like barely beating the worst team in the league and giving up 432 yards passing to a rookie QB in his second game in the league. You're right about someone in the division being over-hyped, the funny thing is you think it's the Lions.

Well I'll agree it is never good to give up that many yards Cam looks to be the real deal. Give him another 2 years and he'll be tearing up the leauge(if he stays healthy). KC does suck...I'll give you guys credit for the Tampa win. Also saying the Panthers are the worst team is not true. KC would probally allow Cam to hit at least the 700 yard marker in that game. KC is possibly the worst team in the league.

The Titans lost to a team the jets beat by like 40 points.

They also DOMINATED the Ravans, who just last week destroyed a SB caliber team.

Observations from the game:

1. I'm sunburned, which I didn't think was possible on an overcast day.
2. It was the perfect day for football and the stadium just channeled the breeze from the river.
3. The Titans dominated the LOS and beat the Ravens off the ball almost every snap. We were also down 3 starting D-Lmen
4, The defense was much improved and played with a fire and passion not had under Cecil.
5. $7 beers. A lady beside me literally spent Mr. Ulysses on beer today.

I like the direction the team is headed and they will only get better as the season goes on. Matt looked much improved today as did most of the passing game. The deep ball was on today and Britt and Washington did no wrong. Bironas made 2 60+ yarders in warm-ups and then missed a 30 yard kick, really?

Such a great game to watch though, and I'm glad I got to share it with my dad. He's worked nights and 2 jobs at times to support my brothers and I, and he deserves more days like today. I have a picture or 2 to post, but I'll get those later when I can link my phone and computer.

Without Manning, the Colts may have that distinction, but it probably is KC.

Ugly loss last night to the Falcons. I had a feeling that the Falcons would be up for that game coming after a whooping in Chicago the week before, plus home field (or should I say dome) advantage. The showed a lot of No. 7 jerseys in the crowd, both red and green. Lots of missed opportunities last night, and the Falcons seized upon them. Turnovers killed us, and they capitalized on the interceptions and fumbles. We put up a fight, but in the end it just wasn't enough. Glad to see us win a challenge for once.... Hopefully Vick's concussion isn't too severe and he'll be back soon. As far as Dunta Robinson, that isn't the first time he's launched himself helmet-first into another player, especially an Eagle. He damn near knocked DeSean Jackson's head off before. It'll be interesting if or what the league will do in this case since it's not the first with him.

Home opener next week against the Giants, we have our work cut out for us....

I'm a Lions fan and I have no problem saying the Pack are the best team in the league. They won the superbowl, they are healthier now. Until someone knocks them off, it's there's.

But the Lions are a team that lost six games last year by six or less points without their starting QB for the whole season and without their #1 running back for half of the year. They beat the Pack with their #3 QB playing most of the game. The defense which was dominant towards the end of the season last year was playing with a practice squad set of LB's and DB's last year. This year they have a real good set of LB's (maybe the best front seven in the league) and the DB's are much better.

On offense Staffords ability to thread the needle in the red zone is the real deal. The O line last year was among the best in the league pass blocking last year. To me the only question is can they run the ball? The loss of LaSure in training camp was a big blow. But this is a team being built for the long run so I'm more content with being patient on that end.

When I said over-hyped I meant that pretty much everyone that covers footballl has picked the Packers to go back to the Super Bowl when their D has looked pretty bad for 2 games in a row now, dead last in the league in passing yards allowed. Carolina was within a TD and had the ball in GB territory with less than 5 min to play, that is a lot closer than you may want to believe.

I haven't seen any Lions fan talking Super Bowl, I suspect that most Lions fans have had a good dose of reality throughout their history. But their are a lot of reasons to be excited for the future. Stafford is already the best QB I've ever seen in a Lions uniform, and I've been watching them since the mid 60's.

The Titans lost to a team the jets beat by like 40 points.

The AFC South is, the city that had the Oilers Texans, to lose.

The Dolphins are a quality team (where's Greg when I need him?), #6 D last year ran by one of the best D coordinators in the game, a monster WR, the best tackle in the last decade and a QB who just threw for 400 yards.

Peyton Manning doesn't play defense and isn't on the punt coverage unit so a beat down on the Colts is still something to be proud of.

The Dolphins are 1-11 at home since late 2009

As for how much another team beat the Jags by, it's irrelevant. The Titans lost by two and were in it till the int. in the Jags home opener. I'd say that is slightly different in circumstance, no?
