NFL Week #7

That Green Bay game was a travesty. The Non-catch that was a touchdown and the Shiancoe touchdown that was overturned. Did ANYONE see any irrefutable video evidence that he didn't have possession when he hit the ground?

You're right. If that wasn't a TD I don't know what one looks like then. But there were still a couple bogus calls against the pack like that supposed late hit against Nick Collins, and a couple no calls such as Mathews getting facemasked all game. It all evens out.

Go Pack.

Any clue as to what's actually wrong in NO????? I can't put my finger on it....seems like they just completely forgot how to play football all of a sudden.

Mental errors mostly it seems. Probably some poor calls from the sideline, mixed in with that dreaded superbowl slump, as well as the fact that everyone is gunning for you. Some injuries don't help either. The Browns pulled out all the stops for this game and were determined to win it, and the Saints overlooked them in preparation for the Steelers. I doubt anyone is going to say otherwise, but I'd put money down and say that they were looking at film for the steelers at least once this week. Probably not the whole day, but at least part of the day, cause they figured the Browns would be a pushover.

I am officially going to say that I was right when I said a few weeks ago that the Saints are off track and something's wrong. If they keep playing like this they will absolutely get destroyed by Pittsburgh, which I would love to see, provided James Harrison does nothing.

No excuses, the offense played a CRAP game yesterday, first and foremost Brees, who threw 4 INTs, two of which were for TD's (and yeah, to the same guy, Bowens...right after his 2nd son was born Tuesday and named BOWEN? :rollno: ).

They play like this next week, and they will get the @$$whuppin' they deserve.

:scowl:

...I doubt that will happen.

;)

(Not saying they won't lose, but they won't lay two eggs in a row.)

I know, but I'll let our resident Saints expert speak on the matter. It's "his" team, not "mine".

-Mike

What's wrong? Hell if I know for sure. I have my suspicions, but that's all they are.

1) Brees is DISTRACTED because of family stuff. He needs to remember how he feeds his family...but I'll give him a "pass" this week...he needs to address his cranial/rectal inversion quickly though.

2) Key injuries to the offense, specifically Bush and P. Thomas is keeping them from running the same mismatch based offense they did last year.

3) Offensive line play is very inconsistent. They were damn near perfect last week, this week they looked distracted and disjointed. Not sure WHY this is happening, but it IS. They play that kind of game next week, and Bowen Brees will need a stepdad. :hmm:

They really need to get their heads together as a team, start playing what they're capable of instead of sleepwalking, offensive line needs to get their nasty swagger back and KEEP it, Brees needs to get his mind back in the game.

The same basic stuff applies to the special teams that really played poorly yesterday (68 yards to a punter on a fake punt?!?!?! :spit: ).

The defense is actually holding their end up, but when your offense gives the opponent two free TD's, you get a bit hogtied. :(

I'm sure the rest of you will agree that it's been a very strange season in the NFL this year. I can't really remember any other season quite like this. Cleveland beating New Orleans? Oakland scoring 59 against the Broncos? San Diego beating San Diego over and over again? The Pats at 5-1? The Cowboys 1-4? Very strange indeed! Like I've said before, no dominant teams in the historic sense. This is parity? Yuck! :spit:

It's the Madden Curse. You all laughed at me when I brought it up, now look at the Saints getting rolled at home by the laughing stock of the NFL. Two or three key members of the team go down with injuries, and Brees looking like a marginal NLF QB.

I believe whole heartedly in the Madden Curse, as well as the Superbowl Slump.
