NHL Regular Season 2017-18

We had plenty of JR here in Phoenix, although his first stint went pretty well, his second (and very short) stint did not. Acted like an a-hole.

Overall I like the guy though he can be a tad opinionated, but he's one of those guys that you take with a grain of salt.

Best comeback line? 2016 All-Star game and JR is interviewing John Scott on the bench. JR says to Scott. "You know, I was wrong about you." John Scott immediately fires back with, "You're wrong about a lot of things, JR." The look on Roenick's face was priceless. :D

Here's hoping the Yotes can extend their 'dominance' over the Eastern Canadian teams tonight with an upset of the Leafs.

Hey Mike, you notice neither Blackhawk goals were high glove side? Evidently Quenneville's boys didn't read the scouting report! But yeah, Maatta...shaking my head. And Geno...made some fantastic plays all game...steals the puck, stickhandles through a couple Hawks, then ruins that effort by making a terrible pass it or shoots it three feet wide. All night long. Pens really could have been up by 3 or 4. Crawford was outstanding.

Roenick? Some low level headlines, but most of all he was a Flyer. That there makes him a bad guy in my book. :D

Edit....I did some research into the book and what Roenick said about Marleau.
Roenick went to Marleau's house when they were SJ teammates to encourage and inspire Marleau's play. Apparently Marleau did not respond as Roenick had hoped, thus contributing to the sour relationship.
I realize book headlines are sometimes attention grabbers, but the headline of Roenick's book says enough about who he thinks he is, then when you pair it with this uninvited home visit on Marleau.

Roenick was peeved at Marleau when they were teammates, and said he (Marleau) had put in "...a gutless, gutless effort.." during a playoff game against the Red Wings. He might have said "performance" rather than "effort", but that was the gist of it. He basically said the Marleau doesn't play with enough "heart". But like I said, who knows? A lot of highly-skilled, smooth skaters make their play look effortless when it is anything but.

Roenick has always been outspoken and highly opinionated; and probably incorrect as often as correct. I also read somewhere that he and Mike Milbury almost came to blows on set while announcing.

BTW, did you also dislike John LeClair, Paul Coffee, Mark Recchi, and the other 70 players who played for your Pens, but had also played for the Flyers? (I know Roenick doesn't fall into that category; but your disdain for all-things Flyers made me wonder about that.) And it also conjured up another question related to your road rage thread. Would I have to send you bail money if one of those "idiots" who irritate you while driving happened to have a Flyer decal on their back window?? :D:D (Believe me, I'm not casting aspersions - just joking around. I'm as guilty as anybody when it comes to getting irritated while driving... ;)

I take those on a case by case basis. For instance, I like Jagr.
Please provide me that list, and I'll break it down for you and a reason for each. :D
As for a Flyers decal in a window? Yep, that's a trigger. Hahaha.

Wow, I had completely forgotten Leclair was a Penguin, albeit for a short time. (His final season and a quarter in the NHL.)

That's why I love perusing hockeydb.com and looking up teams back in the late 70's through the 80's...remembering certain players when they played for different teams than I remember. Especially now that my memory ain't what it used to be.

Columbus keeps right on winning. That darn Bobrovsky. Any day now he'll fall apart and it'll be obvious then the Flyers were geniuses to dump him for Bryzgalov.

Been saying that for a couple of weeks now. They would play decently for 50 minutes, then take a stupid penalty that ices the game for their opponent. Or let the wheels fall off and let their opponent storm back (the Philly game, for example).

Hopefully Tocchet's message is finally getting through, or the players are starting to gel a bit. Raantta is playing very well, too. Who knows if it'll last... I'm just enjoying it for what it's worth. Which is basically three wins in a long season of being out of playoff contention.

They play really well defensively, clogging up the neutral zone and caused a lot of turnovers. Plus Matthews was robbed on that goalie interference call. But nonetheless, Leafs didn’t deserve a win, gotta get some shots on net to score.

Ha ha!! You're spot on with your satire there. I hated that move when they got rid of Bobrovsky, and I've hated it through every goalie-struggling season since. I'll never understand what they were thinking. "Bob" was a young riser who showed flashes of brilliance. But rather than giving him time to mature and develop, they let him go. Absurd...
