THIS Bruins team is much more fun to watch compared to the recent Julien-coached teams. The Julien firing/Cassidy hiring at head coach is beginning to look like a genius move by the much-maligned Bruins front office. Nobody saw that coming, perhaps other than those "in the know" who understood the talent being cultivated in Providence.

From afar it was long understood there were good players there not getting the ice time. I liked Julien, but it was time for a change

I personaly like the Sens chances and I'll go with them.
They won't finish first , maybe in the middle of the pack but they can play a mean , well organized defense system with a very good blue line.

The only thing that worries me is their tendency to lift the foot in the third (like we saw yesterday against the Flyers)

I don't recall who said/wrote it, but Julien was too hard on the young players and too easy on the veterans - Cassidy gives the younger players some room to develop (Julien would have benched Carlo mid-game after that flub last night) while not being afraid to call out the vets when needed (publicly calling out Krug to "mind his gaps" better.)

It was good to see the first line score - Pasternak didn't get a goal but his steal and pass to Marchand on the 2 on 1 was one of the best plays I've seen this season.

Pastrnak missed a half-open net in the 3rd period IIRC, and that steal and pass on the Marchand goal was more reminiscent of a young Patrice Bergeron than it was of young Tyler Seguin. If Pastnak keeps learning the complete game as it appears he's been doing, he has the potential to be a really great player, all-star caliber year-in-year-out. Will be interesting.

He's growing up. It's been a long process, and not without its hiccups along the way.

They've sometimes got him wearing the A now, and it's good to see. He's always been incredibly skilled, but his antics have obscured that over time. The trend, though, has been toward greater maturity.

Unless we win ;)

2 games in a row, Leafs played a fast game, had so many chances, but stopped by a great goaltender, and our goalie flubbing a puck and giving it to the opponent to score. And Freddie has been excellent with the puck till the last few games, I think he's nervous handling the puck now. But he's solid playing in front of it.

This time however, we'll take the 6 round shootout win, the 2 points, and give the single point to a western team, cuz we don't care, lol.


And for the real hockey fans, who are paying attention to the World Juniors, a sad day for Team USA, losing to a determined Swede team. Sadly, no US-Canada final this year, Canada beat a sassy underdog Czech team to advance to the finals tomorrow night against Sweden.

If any of you guys don't follow the WJC, do yourself a favour and try to watch tomorrow night's game. These guys are the future of hockey, and nothing better than young athletes playing for national pride.

The Pens show some life tonight and shut down the Islanders in Brooklyn.
That was great to see Jarry stand tall against Tavares and shut him down on that wide open shot after the turnover. Glove side high only works on Murray. Even I know that.
A shutout for Jarry which included killing off a 5-on-3. The Pens defense actually helped out for once.

Yeah, that kid has a lot of growing up to do. It was a good game, and they could have easily won it. I fully understand the "win gold, or you lost" mentality, but he disrespected his country and his teammates by doing that.

So-so game by the Leafs tonight. Part that drove me crazy, and I was literally yelling at the tv, was the 48 passes in a row during a 4 on 3 powerplay in OT.

SHOOT THE F$@&#% PUCK, for the love of god and all things holy!

But once again, 2 points for us, and 1 point for a western team, cuz we don't care.
