NHL Regular Season 2017-18

So, my spark notes:
I'm liking that the Pens kept in it after being tied up after 2 periods. Aston-Reese is growing on me, though I have a feeling we'll lose him by trade deadline. Malkin with two A's and a G tonight - guy just can't be stopped it seems. Hopefully he can keep it up. Letang too played a good bit out of his mind and racked up over 26 (!) minutes on the ice. I wonder when we'll see Jarry - almost has to be tomorrow at this point, right?

An all defense goal from the Pens as Maatta scores with an assist from Reaves and Hunwick.
Glove side high? Not tonight Zach.
To be fair, Andersen made a really nice save on Kessel at point blank range.
Pens stretch out it to 11 straight at home on the night when Malkin picks up career point #900.
Chicago is putting a hurting on Washington and Tampa Bay already lost.
I'd say it's a good night if you happen to like the NHL team that calls Pittsburgh home.

Stupid Leafs.

We went 11 minutes in the second without a shot.

Boy though, Leafs-Pens playoff series would be tons of fun.

And @MJ5150 .... remember in December when you were lamenting your Pens, and I told you you were overreacting?

I hate when I'm right.
I keep giving him hell for that, lol

Pens' state is this, if Murray can settle in (only stopped 36 of 38 shots half way through the 3rd tonight as I post this... not too shabby) then they are golden, Crosby has the most goals in the last month, and I believe Malkin and kessel are in the top 5 in that period.
Murray has a new focus, hockey will be his escape from the awful personal thing he has been through, this could turn around his year and pull them down the stretch, the whole team is fighting for him.

And I guess it's easy for a fan of a long time losing team to criticize, but to even be 30 games from the end of the season, and be sitting in a playoff spot, and bitch?!?!? Nope, you're just jaded. It'll always be tough, and the chance of winning the Cup, even as the best team in the league (I'm talking to you, Caps) is slim.

Look at it this way, right now, the Leafs are 15 points ahead of the nearest team in the division. With 31 games left... it's almost logistically impossible for us to NOT make they playoffs... Almost.. And I haven't felt that in decades. I worry still, and cringe at bad losses, but always have faith.
The playoffs are a new season, anything can happen once you're in.

Enjoy the race.

Yes sir, I sure do. Great run they've been on that's for sure. We'll see if that translates into a run for #3 in a row.

However, I do not hate it when I'm right.

Dafuq are the Canucks doing beating the Bruins 5-0 after 2?!?
They just going to play playoff spoiler team for the rest of the season?

PS.... wonder what the Leafs would have to cough up to grab Chris Tanev? He'd be a great right shot D to pickup for the playoffs. I'd give them Polak, Leivo, Martin and Moore. But they wouldn't take any of them, lol

Probably not. I don't know what Benning is doing really but Vancouver seriously needs a strong top 2 (pushing it) or top 4 D-man.

And yes. Vancouver plans to play the role of bringing pain to playoff bound teams before they start the post season. We may not make it to the playoffs again but we're certainly gonna try to bang and bruise up the teams that ARE!!!

Crosby, Malkin, Kessel, Letang, Guentzel, etc.

But who scores TWO against Columbus? Good ol' Riley Sheahen, he of 81-games-without-a-goal fame. (Or something like that.) All kidding aside, it's good to see some production from that line, and especially him. He finally looks comfortable after nearly half a season in the 'burgh. Also good to see some secondary scoring form the guys not named in the opening sentence above.
