There are few things finer in the NHL than watching the Caps fizzle out once the playoffs start.

Stupid Leafs.
I'll actually throw some blame on Babcock. Putting the 4th line out and staying with it when the Bergeron line goes out is just a bad idea. The trade for Plekanec is a bust, he's done nothing since coming here, put Moore back in.
Kadri could easily get a game suspension considering they gave Doughty one.
And if Boston continues to make the Mathews line irrelevant, it's going to be a short series.

I have no love for the Pens (although I DO respect their talent); but I don't think they ran up the score at all. They were just on fire, and the Flyers were unable to find their posteriors using both hands. When you turn the puck over and fail to clear as often as they did, the opportunities just kept on coming for the Pens. They couldn't very well NOT score when given the chance.
And Derek, in the 2012 playoffs, it was the Pens who lost their cool most of the time. But I don't expect that to happen this time. These aren't the Flyers of the '70s. But you're right that they need to stay out of the box in order to have any chance whatsoever.

Man,you got it right in your first sentence. Just because I'm not in love w/ a team doesn't mean I think they aren't good. Just means I prefer someone else. I'm in South Florida. Therefore I "hate" the Yankees,Red Sox,Patriots,Bruins,Pens and a whole shipload of teams that beat the Panthers, Dolphins and America's favorite farm team,the Marlins.
That's not true. It's just that Marlins fans wear seat-colored outfits to the games.
Kadri. What a tool. He could have seriously injured Wingels the way his head and neck were in such a vulnerable position. Could have ended the guy's career. Plus, you're a 30+ goal scorer, and your team needs you. Hopefully you'll have 2-3 games to sit and think about what an idiot you are. Not the first time either.
Like you Penguin haters, I feel the same way about the Bruins...don't like 'em much but have tons of respect for them. Over the past couple of years, Marchand has gone from one of my most hated players to one of my favorite players to watch. Still pulling for the Leafs to make a series out of it.

This series is hard to watch because I obviously dislike both of those teams a lot. I respect the heck out of Trotz but I can't root for many of the Caps players, and ditto Tortorella and his squad. I'm hoping every game in the series goes to double overtime, and who ever wins will be too tired to present much of a challenge to the Pens in round 2.

Talking of questionable penalties, the call on Foligno for goalie interference was ridiculous. He was cross checked into Grubauer. And why did Anderson get a 5 minute major for boarding, but Wilson got a 2 minute minor for charging on a nearly identical play on Wennberg?

I won't defend Kadri as he should control his emotions better with the playoffs in the line.
Had the Ref's blown the whistle on Wingle's elbow to Marner's face, it wouldn't have happened.
He'll get a game at least, and Leafs are practicing today without him. Not good. Besides his 30 goals, he's been a great defensive center this year, it's going to make it tough, they're moving Marleau to center with Marner and Hyman (who was a beast last night!) and for some unknown reason, moving Komarov up with Mathews and Nylander. Johnsson gets the call up, and he should be with that line, IMO.

But why on God's Green Earth does Babs insist on putting Komarov on the power play? The man has hands of the finest chiseled granite. If he wants some grit on there, play Hyman.
It's the old 2nd offense that gets seen and called."I got pushed","I didn't see that".
Yeah, that Babcock guy doesn't know much about the playoffs. Good idea to call him out.

Don't get me wrong, I'm glad we have him, but he is kinda old school, and has certain ideas stuck in his head. For example, we'll never have a 1st line like Bergeron, Marchand, Pasternak. He won't put 3 goal scorers together, gotta have a "digger" on the line. Always has to have an old guy on the 4th line, an old guy on defense, etc. it's worked well for him, but as the game changes, I hope he adapts.
