Wait Mike....you got promoted? Congrats! The Pens end the year on a six game winning streak, with Crosby and Kessel piling up more points.
DeSmith and Murray are on fire right now. Maybe all Murray needed was some healthy competition to get back into form, and DeSmith is giving it to him.

Lightning fan here, so not looking forward to the Pens getting that hot streak. Wouldn't surprise me though.Secondary scoring and primary scoring along with some solid defense and a solid Murray in net makes the Pens 1-0 in 2019 as they pick up right where they left off to end 2018, en fuego.
Seven goals tonight from seven different Pens players. Impressive.
Just like that, the Pens are one point behind first place Washington. Columbus is right there too, one point behind the Pens.
In December, then Pens went from out of the playoffs to home ice in the first round.
It'll take a crazy hot streak to catch up to Tampa though.

Annnnddd, once again the Cats are consistently inconsistent. AAARRRRGGHH!Sabres 4-3 win tonight vs. Fla. not a cup team but hoping for a playoff berth.
I always thought it strange that the Lightning get way more interest and support in FLA than the Rays. And both teams have had success.Lightning fan here, so not looking forward to the Pens getting that hot streak. Wouldn't surprise me though.
Ah, close road loss.Annnnddd, once again the Cats are consistently inconsistent. AAARRRRGGHH!
The Rays facility(The Trop)is in St. Petersburg. A bit of a PITA to access[across Tampa Bay]. Amalie Arena is right downtown Tampa with fairly easy access from any direction(I-4, I-75, I-275). And lots of stuff to do near the Arena.I always thought it strange that the Lightning get way more interest and support in FLA than the Rays. And both teams have had success.
Yeah. The Trop is not the best BB venue. Hope they do something. And let's be honest, the AL East is the best. The Rays facility(The Trop)is in St. Petersburg. They were s'posed to be building a new stadium in Ybor City-just to the northeast of downtown Tampa. Deal fell through.Yeah. The Trop is not the best BB venue. Hope they do something. And let's be honest, the AL East is the best.![]()

I particularly like when a ball goes up, but does not come down. The location is the main reason, the secondary reason is that it is totally enclosed. A retractable roof in FLA would be great. St. Pete built the Trop before they had a commitment from MLB so I understand why they didn't spring for the cost of a retractable roof.
Are you a transplanted keystone stater? Two secondary (Maatta and Cullen) goals in 33 seconds and the Pens are up 2-0 after 20 minutes of the best opening period I have seen them play in a long time, and at home too.
Maybe the bubble bursts and the Pens go back to playing terrible, but the thing is they aren't playing crazy awesome or above their heads right now. Just regular Pens hockey.
