McElhinney is a fine goalie, was quite upset when we lost him. It was either him or Sparks, and management decided to go the younger route, but IMHO I think they made the wrong call.Yeah, really. What the heck happened last night?
That must have been from before they drafted Sid, when the building was empty and there was talk of moving or folding the franchise....
Kind of like what we hear in the desert every other year.
Good thing I'm not paranoid...my two teams...Pens & Yotes...both hounded for years with rumors of relocating. Glad the Pittsburgh situation has been rectified (Thanks, Mario!).
Now if we can get stable ownership out here, along with some influx of excitement to get the bodies in the building...(Truth is the current roster is an exciting bunch to watch most nights. Just lacking that star power. Thought Domi could have been that guy, now waiting if Keller can do it.)

Yeah, he's always been capable of squeezing out the occasional awesome performance, but never had any consistency. There's a reason he's on his seventh team.
I'd mentioned this earlier this season after the Isles GK (Greiss?) played the best game of his career...the Pens seem to run into that often where some 2nd or 3rd string goalie has their 'best game ever' against them. And with the firepower wearing black and gold, you'd think they'd be able to turn it up during those games. So far hasn't happened much.
That's gotta change come April or they'll be playing golf earlier than they'd like.

I hadn't paid attention his recent stats with the Leafs...those were definitely good numbers. But I'm sure the age factor came into the brass' decision to keep Sparks (25 vs 35).
Agree with you on that, but think right now Leafs should be more concerned with winning today while they can still keep this team together than worrying about backup goalies a few years down the road. Because really, I do not see either Sparks or McElhinney being a top notch number 1 goalie. Good solid backups, yes, but not a star.
Roberto Luongo had a fine game as he moves into second place in total games played by a goalie.
The Pens played without an injured again Matt Murray and got some secondary scoring, but not much else. I really wish Sullivan would take Pettersson off that pairing with Johnson. Better yet, find a new home for Johnson.
I can't wait for Schultz to return.

As a native Miamian, I prolly enjoyed the game a bit more than you did.
I like good hockey, no matter who wins. If the Pens end up winning, great. If not, oh well.

As I'd mentioned earlier, Florida is one of my second-tier favs. So while I'd prefer that the Pens win every game, I wasn't too upset the Cats pulled this one out. Obviously I'll feel differently in April & May, but but at least they got a point and Florida got two.
FWIW, a record-tying 8 OT games last night...out of 14 games total. Like @MJ5150 said...good hockey.

It's been fun watching the Flyers lately. 9-0-1 in their last 10 games. (19 out of a possible 20 points in that stretch.)
Carter Hart won his 8th in a row in goal this afternoon, tying Jocelyn Thibault as the only two goalies with 8 wins in a row while under the age of 21. Congrats to the kid!
I know they can't maintain a win streak like this, and they're still very unlikely to make the playoffs. Nevertheless, it's good to see them playing good hockey again.

I grew up closer to Pittsburgh, and was a lifelong Pirates/Steelers fan. But after being discharged from the military in 1972, I was living in Harrisburg. The local cable channel carried Flyers away games, so I've been a Flyers fan since then.
