Yeah, same here. But the return of Haula and Wallmark is pretty decent, along with the two prospects.
Headline is not quire clear....does not mention that the 42 year old Zamboni driver works for......MLSE (Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment....the company that OWNS the Leafs). Double ouch.
I don't get it Rutherford, really I don't. Why in the thunder are you stockpiling forwards?

You're not a wizard of the cap or of making deals. You are a gun slinger who makes deals to make them. Sometimes you hit the bulls eye, the rest of the time they don't.
You talk about Marleau wanting the 'ultimate prize'. You've done him a disservice bringing him to Pittsburgh. The roster you have as it sits now is not going to win you the 'ultimate prize'. Yeah, Marleau is a Cullen like player, but the Pens aren't lacking that as much as they are lacking defense. Marleau will play little to no defense. You're not going to outscore the likes of the Caps, Bruins, Lightning, and Islanders 8-6, or 7-5 or 6-4 in the playoffs.
You, Rutherford, with this roster are going to lose games 3-1, 2-0, and 2-1 with the roster you have right now in the playoffs.

He's some sort of Marlies goaltender who also practices with the Leafs. The crowd went wild for him, even though he was backstopping the visitors.

Agreed 100%. I liked Kahun (when he was healthy) but Sheary isn't gonna bring anything more, other than playoff experience. And Rodrigues is a decent 3rd or 4th liner, but he's an RFA (as is Kahun) while Sheary is a UFA. What did he gain with this deal? An extra forward?!?
Like we've both been saying for several years now, it's the defense that is the Pens weakest link. Has been throughout the teams history in all honesty but at least those Cup years the offense carried the team. But as you stated, they ain't winning playoff games with a handful of goals going in both nets.
I'd love to be proven wrong in June with another Cup, but that's a pipe dream at this stage. I objectively see them possibly making the second round, but no further.
Yes, it's not like he has never played goal before. While he has never played in a professional game before, he did have a good amateur career, and is a regular practice goalie for both the Marlies (AHL affiliate of the Leafs) and the Leafs. In fact, when the Leafs played an exhibition outdoor practice and game for the kids last month, he was one of goaleis used, because Freddie had played the night before and needed the day off.

7:30 PM is a late start for a hockey game. I feel for all my friends back home who may have tried to watch the Pens tonight where it didn't start until after 10:30 PM. Yikes. I'm not that devoted of a fan to stay up that late for a regular season game. I tried a few times catching Pens or even Bruins games when they made the west coast swings when we lived in New Hampshire, and gave up quickly.
The Pens stayed in the game, and even had some sustained surges, but they can't play defense. Jack Johnson got made to look a fool more than a couple times tonight.
Malkin played high energy most of the night, but lost some of that fire after a couple missed calls against him.

Saw that quick-hit interview with Patrick Marleau as he arrived at the arena. I was unaware that he grew up a big Penguins fan, and they even showed a picture of him as a kid wearing a Pens' T-shirt.
It must be karma! Move over, David Ayres, the next feel-good story is happening in the 'burgh. The Cup will be ours!
(All kidding aside, if it were to happen, it couldn't happen to a classier guy than Marleau.

B's halted a 2 game skid with a nice 4-3 win over the Stars (who made it interesting with a 6 on 5 goal with enough time left to get a tying goal.)
Nick Ritchie got a goal and assist (pretty give and go with Pasta) in his second game as a B.
Krejci had his 3rd regular season fight in his 900+ game career (and won!). The first two were in 2010-11, the season the B's won the Cup. Maybe it's just a coincidence, but then again, maybe not.

My daughter and I went to Amalie tonight and watched the 'Ning squeak by the Flames. 4 PM start, so easy round trip from Orlando. Pretty good game and damn good beer.

For some unknown reason Jack Johnson decides to fire off a rocket from the point that doesn't even hit the goalie or net and flies all the way around to the blue line on the other side of the rink. The Sharks grab the puck and fly down the other way to put in their third goal.
Not only hasn't Johnson been playing d, now he thinks he's Phil Kessel.
