I was at the game where Clint Malarchuk (sp?) took a blade to the neck. It was pretty horrible. I've never heard 16 thousand fans go dead silent.
I was at the NFL Balti @ Steelers game last fall where we all thought Mason Rudolph died...it was eerie to say the least

Good stand by the defense to kill a five on three for 1:42.

Folks, it looks like we are going to be losing our season soon. Yes, the virus will likely kill all professional sports for this year. Think about it, if one player on any team in any sport gets infected, you can essentially consider that sport's season over for the next month or two.
That one player will be forced into a two week self isolation. That also means that the entire team will be forced into isolation. Remove an entire team, regardless of what sport and that league will be forced to shut down for the duration of the epidemic.
I know that in the bigger picture, sport is entertainment, but this is the NHL thread....

Already headed that way with European soccer clubs/leagues. Unfortunately, I think you're right about it only a matter of time before the same scenario lands here in North America.

What I said is indeed a fact, it just hasn't happened yet, here in North America. Just look at what the Sharks are going through right now...

No players for the Sharks have been diagnosed with coronavirus. None of their players are in quarantine.
The county where they play home games has prohibited large gatherings, over 1,000 people.

I get that no Sharks have the virus as of yet, but to argue that seasons are not in jeopardy is fool hardy in my mind. Simply looking at the methodology currently in use for dealing with infected people will lead you to my position. I am not speculating on methodology, I am speculating that a professional in any sport that gets the virus will likely close down their entire league.

"Fear" is already spreading on its own. We've had a number of gigs at a rehab/assisted living facility cancelled TFN.
I'm not arguing the seasons are not in jeopardy.
I'm just curious what's your point to bring it up when it hasn't happened.

OK, what then? You want us all to sit in this thread and speculate about what might happen if it does?
If the NHL decided to cancel the rest of the season and playoffs, then I'd be up for discussing the impact to us as fans and those who live in NHL cities.
Until then, I don't see the point in speculating.
