NHL Season 2021

NJ proved that wrong

Having the best goalie in the league of that era helped.

Not to mention a player who will take your head off with a dirty elbow (side eyes Scott Stevens).

Puck possession does play a big role in today’s game and it can be entertaining. One of my favorite things in 2019-2020 was watching Kevin Hayes play keep away with the other teams.

Rangers are gonna be young , fast, and fun to watch. They will score a lot, and give up a lot of goals because the defense and the head coach sucks.

If this were any truer, it would be axiomatic. The Rangers are basically a high school all-star team this year. I guess we'll see how it goes. (My hopes are not high, especially so long as they've got David Quinn coaching them. The guy's a nightmare. How did he get renewed for another season?)

Patrice Bergeron becomes next captain of the Boston Bruins (Is anyone that surprised?)

Nils Hoglander, a 2nd round pick in 2019 for VAN, has impressed everyone at training camp. My bet is he makes opening night roster winging Horvat and Tanner Pearson.

Its gonna be hard to win a cup if Kevin Hayes is your best player. Philly had a lot of no shows in the playoffs last year.

Can’t argue with that. A lot of the Flyers group has little playoff experience thanks to being uncompetitive for nearly a decade.

No excuses for G and Coots.

Konecny was the most glaring no show. Hopefully the snakebites will have healed by the spring.

Agree 100%. Quinn is not the best coaching option for this team. If they can't get a proven coach then the guy they got at Hartford now is showing a lot of promise, or I would love to get Granato out of Wisconsin and bring him home and see how he does.

Corey Crawford surprised everyone by announcing his retirement from the NHL.

After playing his entire career with the Blackhawks, he had just signed a 2 year deal with the NJ Devils. It seems he changed his mind, citing fragile health concerns.

Crawford retires without suiting up for Devils

I liked him. I remember when he took over in Chicago.

Hey everybody....I'm gonna go and say that my Blues are gonna make some noise again this shortened season...with the additions of Krug and possibly Hoffman will definitely help.... goaltending still scares me though...also like what Ottawa is slowly putting together in the east as my underdog...cheers!!

It looks like Collin Delia and Malcolm Subban will share net minding duties in Chicago this year.

That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence in Hawks fans.

With Jonathon Toews out indefinitely due to undisclosed chronic health issues, it's looking pretty bleak for this season.

Yeah, and long term injuries to Dach and Nylander are not going to help either....

Can't wait to see what the waiver wire will do today. Lots of players listed but most are unproven or overpaid or over the hill.

I was reading how the COVID restrictions will hinder the trade market. If I'm understanding it correctly, any player traded to/from Canada will have a 7 to 14-day quarantine. Any player called up from the minors will have a 7 day quarantine. With such a short and compact season, that's a sizeable chunk to have to sit out.

Life long Red Wings fan here. I remember when they were the Dead Things, then came the glory years of the late 1990s. Their success came with new owner Mike Ilitch and coach Scotty Bowman, and their demise coincided with Mr. Ilitch’s death. They’ve been “rebuilding” for ten years. We’re all getting tired of that excuse. The move out of the West to the East was supposed to be a huge benefit, but they haven’t done anything since that happened.

Wait...you are complaining about a 10 year rebuild?
