Yeah, if you're interested in framing it and hanging it on a wall, it might be a beautiful piece. But how about the reality of playing bass -- practicing and gigging with it, or even just avoiding scratches while changing strings? I'd be deathly afraid of touching it for fear of damaging it or losing it to a thief, even with proper insurance. Owning something that expensive would be way too stressful for me.

What a beautiful instrument; everyone has their taste, but I do think these instruments sound as incredible as they look. I have one Roya concept and its sound spectrum is quite unique. The bass can produce a thick mid-tone and a crystal overtone at the same time which I have very rarely heard in other instruments. It cuts through stone when needed. Below an example (Interstellar), video quality is not the best, but I believe the sound is pretty good. Also at the end, some Miles Davis channeling using this beast’s MIDI capabilities. Ritter has his own design language that is uniquely his. Technically interesting, and another of the few that go to the additional trouble of building his own pickups/electronics. Sometimes I think he uses that many neck attachment bolts to ballast the center of gravity! They are amazing instruments.

Jens' instruments are delightful mental exercises for me, he comes up with very unique answers: Look at the strings/tuning arrangement on this axe (which he's used previously but ingenious nonetheless) and that fretless fingerboard up to HERE . . .

His basses and guitars are all one-offs built on several 'standard' themes, and are beautiful object d'art that are also wonderfully unique musical instruments. This is and never will be cheap, or actually be able to have their value judged in the conventional Guitar Center world.

It's the classic 'well, my Casio G-Shock keeps time just fine, WHY would I spend $$$$$$$ for a Patek Phillippe?'
I'd suggest that if that's a real legitimate question for you, you're not who these are aimed at, and have you seen the new metal G-Steels? Right this way.

Meh. It is a bass. You can get all the bass you need from a passive P or J. I don't find anything about this to be compelling. Therefore I'm not going to buy one.
