My guitarist is on antacids, I do multi-vitamins and the old drummer was a social-drinker! We're hardcore!!!

Its not that there are no more real Rock Stars anymore its what the corporations want us to listen to and how they manipulate what they call stars. My wife and I love live locale music and Ive seen lots of great Rock Stars out there in front of mics on open mic nights.

Well ... Rock Star ... first they aren't musician, they are just Rock Star, you don't need to play any music ... just look cool on stage.

i would say it takes a pretty selfish guy to leave your daughter fatherless. cobain never really struck me as the type, i dunno.
I think if you're looking for "real" rock stars in mainstream music you will be dissappointed, but if you scale down to the local scenes you'll find plenty of bands with alcoholic drummers, meth-head guitarists, and singers who take other guys' girlfriends back to their car after the set for some Enter-personal Relationships

Amen. I'm all junked up with Oreos and cold milk. Can't seem to shake the habit. I hate to think of the cold sweats I'll go into when I do.
LOL Don't do it cold-turkey! I hear it's best to ween yourself off gradually.
Back to the OP - I just think it's the change in culture. The vast majority of us aren't professional musicians and have to have some sort of a day job to keep the debt collectors happy. And keeping a day job usually means you've gotta pee in a cup at some point. Plus all of the negatives that come with addiction. It's all glamorous and junk for the few years you're on top, but then what? Die? No thanks. :scowl:

Yeah, I think it was the drugs combined with the pressure of world wide stardom that made him decide to do what he did. Having a crazy wife who's also addicted to drugs doesn't help much either. Like someone else here said, it's all about choices.
American Idol spews out rock stars every year. They are bland and all sound the same but hey the music industry can't be wrong.
