Nostalgic buy

My buddy wen't over to the States the other day and bought a bunch of random stuff. I noticed that one of the bass's he picked was the very first bass I ever owned (bought with paper route money) when I was 13 (26 years ago). Same model and color as well. Told him I would buy it off him and pick it up on Sat. Total trip down memory lane! to the days where expensive gear was not of importance! LOL. What was your first bass? would you buy it back?

My 1st bass was an 80’s Ibanez Studio model. Very nice but, if I got it back, it wouldn’t get played so, I don’t miss it.

It was a '75 Jazz like this. I wouldn't buy it back. I would want to play it again, though.

I still have my first bass. It's a Crate P bass copy. Thinnest neck I've ever played on and it sounds great. I'll never sell it.

Technically my first bass was some no named beast that my Dad's friend gave us. Truss rod was not effective. Barely adjustable bridge. It was rough. That was burned in a fire. On purpose as in I thru it in the fire. My first purchased bass was, I think, a KMD. Thing was terrible. Sounded terrible, played terrible, etc. Would never want it back.

I still have my first bass, it's a Telecaster Bass. Actually my first bass was a six string guitar.

Mine was a Sqier II P-bass. If cheap enough, I'd buy another one, though I wasn't in love with it.

Mine looked a bit like the OP's bass, it was a white Washburn B-2. I think I bought it at a Daddy's Junky Music in Portsmouth N.H. in the 80's, along with a Sunn Sonaro tube combo amp. Still have the Sunn, wouldn't want the Washburn back, I sold it to a buddy of mine about 15 years ago.

My first Bass was from when I started playing some 20 odd years ago it was a Rogue series 1 bass had a single soapbar pickup one volume and one "tone" (didn't matter which way you turned it it sounded the same) super sharp fretends (my machinist step dad had to file them down). It was a rough playing bass that i learned on and someone actually stole it from me. But seriously no i wouldn't want that back. I ironically did just get a rogue series 3 fretless for Christmas and its so much better than the first one i had much better built

I have mine. It's a Kingston Hofner copy. Got it from a Sears/Penny's/Alden catalog in 1976.

The first bass I ever bought, at age 14, in 1973 was an Aria 1420 Beatle Bass for $300 with a case. I have bought 2 in the past 5 years (for nostalgia) but sold both because they didn't suit my needs. I still love the way they look...but probably won't buy another.

I’d love to have a Univox Hyflier for nostalgic reasons only.

I bought mine new for $115 in 1971.
Sold it about 5 years later for $50.

I’m not willing to pay what folks are asking for a used one so I’ll go without.
I’ve got an Elrick NJS5 and a Squier P5.
Don’t NEED the Univox.

What was your first bass? would you buy it back?

My first bass was given to me by an acquaintance who said that it should be played, not stored like it was. He told me about it's history and the mods he'd given it.
It needed to be fixed and I got it working. But it remained a hard to play wreck.

I found out later it was a 1964 Crucianelli made Cougar bass, modded with a Höfner pickup at the bridge. The photo is how it ended up after a bandmate painted it.
It looked more like this:

I wouldn't buy it back, but I did buy a 1965 model that's in a better state.
For sentimental reasons mostly.

My First electric bass was from the Tombo factory in Japan, was a 60's Norma short scale jazz. I don't have it anymore I lent it to my older brother and somewhere down the line and for whatever reason no one can comprehend he traded it to someone for some Paste cymbals? I would have like to keep it since I got it when I was 11 years old

First bass was a "Cortez", bought new. A (1977) fender jazz copy. Not a bad bass for the low price, but also not the real thing. Would I buy it back? Nope.

My first is a 98 MIM P that I still have, fortunately. Since buying it I have replaced the nut with bone, pups with EMG Geezers, a pick guard from WD and strung with Roto77’s. I nearly sold it and so glad I didn’t. It feels like home and requires the least visual checking of my left hand when playing. Damn it sounds good and plays easy!
