I didn't know the Cowboy Junkies were from Canada? and Steppenwolf also?
Yes and kind-of. I think Steppenwolf was technically Canadian but half the band are Americans. They definitely had major international exposure though.

If Steppenwolf had been Canaduan surely the song would have been 'Born to be slightly unruly (as long as this doesn't inconvenience you, eh)'![]()
Max Webster sure was an unusual, but cool band. Kim Mitchell went on to solo fame.
Max Webster - Toronto Tontos
I remember this song was a huge hit.
The Kings - This Beat Goes On/Switchin` To Glide
Solo fame is relative. He had a couple of hits in the late 80's/early 90's but is now an afternoon DJ at Toronto's Q107.
Max Webster and Triumph just couldn't keep it going like Rush did/is doing. Rush plays in sold out arenas, Kim plays at bars like Rockcliffe in Minden on Canadian Holidays and I have seen Rik Emmett of Triumph play at a dinner theatre in Whitby, Ontario. Very successful bands in their day, but Rush is really one of the few with longevity.
Yeah, I should have written solo career; albeit a limited career. After all, according to Kim, "he is a wild party".
Somebody else mentioned the Kings. They were in my initial list but they got cut after I learned that song was an American hit. I have played that song far too many times to drunks, ha ha.
I was the bass player for a top 40 band. The band was called wow flutter ( really bad name , IMHO )
I'm not Canadian but I do love their cheese I'm even a member of the Canadian Cheese Society.

My memory of those days are a little hazy too! Lol!!Yeah, I remember you guys! At least by name... Most of the late 80's, early 90's are a bit of hazy memory, lol.
I understand The Sheepdogs are from your neck of the woods, Saskatoon. This song sure sounds like The Black Keys.
I hope the mods don't thump you over this! A while back, I mentioned toques & poutine on a Canadian thread, and the "cultural sensitivity rule" was brought up by a mod , apparently I was treading the line!
