Top two are "ON-ON" while the bottom two are "ON-OFF-ON". Different package.

We could try to hunt down a smaller ON-ON switch if people preferred...

Has anyone else struggled with hiss from the Ictineo? I've tried different power supplies (even running from a Cioks DC5 isolated out), signal chains, basses, and Ictineo settings, but can't get rid of it. It sounds much like a compressor might just amplify line noise, but even if I roll off the volume knob completely, there's still a noticeable bump in line noise when engaging the Ictineo. And of course, with the Ictineo volume back up to typical settings, the hiss is more prevalent. Although it's passable in a live band context, it is audible enough to come through main PAs and IEMs and be noticed by sound guys and bandmates.

My signal otherwise should be pretty low noise, although Cali76 CB also amplifies some low line noise. Between Cali and Ictineo, hiss is bumming me out.

Mine had a poppy foot switch when I first got it but Hammish took good care of me. Contact him and it can be taken care of.

Mine is also quiet. I am sure Hamish can hook you up with some grade A support. I always suggest to first try it out with a signe PSU, with just the bass>single pedal>amp chain with cables you know are 100% ok (grounding, shielding, etc.). Any gain/eq pedal will amplify noise that is already there.

Thanks guys, I'll ping Hamish, as it does seem like I'm in the minority here. I just played around a bit more: even without a bass plugged into the input, just running the Ictineo (good cables and power supply) straight into PJ Bass Buddy w/ headphones, line noise bumps up audibly when the Ictineo engages. Also I neglected to mention in my prior post that the hiss CAN actually be defeated by rolling the Tone knob off completely. Of course, that's not generally how I wanna run it, but worth noting the correlation.

Actually I'm running Ictineo into Noble tube pre, which is one of the things I've been troubleshooting with the aforementioned hiss. Whatever line noise gets amplified by my Cali, then gets compounded by a hiss I'm getting from the Ictineo (although I seem to be an outlier with this), and then the Noble, although dead quiet on its own, makes this hiss a bit worse. So the signal chain for me is currently a bit noise.

That said, notwithstanding line noise issues I hope to get sorted, the Ictineo and Noble do sound great together to my ears, full and tight. Makes the Cali seem superfluous at times.

Yeah, I think there is a level of hiss present. This is especially true if you have the boost switch enabled. Mine is definitely not one of the more quite pedals in my arsenal in terms of noise floor. I can tell when it is turned on for sure, especially when using IEM's. But it sounds so good... I try not to let it bother me. I don't record with it though... it would be a problem if I did.

Interesting, thanks. Yeah I did expect some hiss at loud boost levels. But for me, even without boost engaged, and even with Ictineo volume set lower or equal to my dry signal, noise increases audibly with Ictineo engaged. Sending back to Southampton for inspection--kudos for their service--and will report back.

I do. I sometimes feed it into a GK PLEX using the effects loop on the PLEX. Sounds really good. Adds that special something to the sound. However, it also significantly adds to the noise floor.

Mine is very quiet but I also use a Broughton LHPF at the end of my chain and dial out the hiss from the top and rumble rom the bottom, regardless of what pedals I am using that day....
