It really depends on what style of music you play in. If you just want a DBish sort of sound go for the CR4. If you want to have a BG sort of sound at your disposal then go for the CR4M. The extra money goes into the mag pups and blending controls other than that they are the same. You can get a very authentic Jaco pastorius sound with the mags. With the bridge pup and DB strings it can sound quite DBish. It will never replace a DB though. Great basses by the way.

The magnetic pickup can be quite useful, adding punch to the piezo pickups, especially useful if you're in a more dense mix. The additional 10-15% more $$ makes for a more versatile instrument, but it is, of course, a matter of need.

Could you please inform me the right string lenght for use with the CR5M?Cause I read in post 262 ,Bassbus advises to use 4/4 siza strings.But coyote boy in post 317 says that 4/4 string is too long.
Im planning to buy Spiro weichs,Superflexibles and Corelli370M.
Anyyy infos and experience would be truly appreciated.

Yeh, confusing. Some 3/4 strings are too short and some too long. I tried Spirocores on mine and they were too short so I would imagine Superflexibles would be the same as they are both Thomastic. Best to go with 4/4s with thomastic. Some other TBers have used Pirastro Flexocors which only come in 4/4s and fit.
I measured my CR at 106cm playing length (bridge to nut) and my DB at 102cm. Spirocore 3/4s fit the DB fine but are too short for the CR. Hope that's of some help.

Yeah, the Superflex set I have on now is the 4/4 set. The B string is too long for the Bstring post on the 6, but it looks like the 5 is a 2+3, so might not be an issue. Otherwise, the 4/4 length looks like a good fit to the NS from Thomastik land.

I just posted this question on the general EUB forum, but this is probably a better place. I just acquired a CR5M. It plays great, but I find that it goes out of tune quickly. Any suggestions? I tightened up the tuning pegs, but maybe not enough. Thanks.

I f the strings are relatively new, they might need to pulled, and played in. Otherwise, they will be tough to keep in tune.
+1. IT is always a good idea to pull the strings a bit when you first put them on as you would with an electric bass. Particularly important on a DB or EUB with the extra string length. Once that is done these basses are pretty difficult to get out of tune. They seem to stay in tune for ever. One poster said he transported his NS bass across the Atlantic and it was still in tune when he arrived home. Let us know how you get on.
The strings will still stretch even if you pull them. They should stabilize after a few weeks usually.
If such a string existed (it's not listed in the catalog) I'd measure it before buying it to be sure.
Oddly enough the 1/2 scale SF B does exist, and by my measurements should fit the NS using the shorter string anchors at the butt end of the instrument. You'd have to remove a bit of the silk from that end to clear the bridge, but it might be an interesting experiment.
Here's a look at what I did to accommodate the length of the 4/4 B string. I probably could have put it on the close B string post, but I didn't want to start wrapping the speaking length of such a thick string (.148) around the post. You 5-stringers might not have this problem, as your B string posts may be further away with the 2+3 config.

There's something wrong there.
The blue cover is the medium gauge, while the red is the Forte gauge.
But if you look at all the Lemur Jargar listings, they all show the same red cover.
So I wouldn't care about the pictures.

Any body ever adjusted the rod of an CRM?
Is it ease to turn? Or it require quite a force.
How sensitive/reactive is it to one turn?
Cause mine has quite much relief,about 3mm, and Im afraid to force the rod without knowing the good way of doing it and break the whole thing.
Any one with experience in adjusting please share .

I had an unwanted buzz on my G string (CR4M) and tweeked the trus rod just a little and the problem was solved. It did take a bit of force, it wasn't like turning a screw. I put the long end of the allen key in to the rod and used pliers to turn it. Hope that helps.

The relief did get much lower.Its flat on the trebleside,but about1mm on the Low B string.I ll wait fora few days sothe woods will settle down.
Its much easier to play than I thought!
