Number of people on your Ignore list?

In my opinion, no one should get ignored for expressing an opinion, regardless of what that opinion is or whether it matches anyone else's opinion. I'm actually *thankful* for when someone expresses an opinion that differs from mine. Why? Because living in a world where everyone has the same opinion would be a freakish science fiction world that I would never want to live in. So thank goodness for differing opinions!!!

And that's my opinion! :roflmao:

I agree with @CyberSnyder in his post #104 where he says he never ignores for opinion, it's always for attitude.

I'd certainly agree with that. We've had phases of running debates, especially in the Lobby, where you could get pretty frustrated with people stubbornly insisting on positions you felt were untenable, or repeating the same thing over and over that you had already debunked. I never ignored anyone for that. It was when it got to be ad hominem or mean-spirited that I would ignore someone.

Maybe TalkBass needs a button or two between "like" and "ignore".

An "I Am Rubber You Are Glue" button may expedite some folks' indignation tournaments.

A Monkey Island reference on TB! The sun isn't even up yet here & my day is complete. :)

As to the topic : Exactly 1 in the 10+ years I've been here.

Everyone else is awesome. TB is paradise compared to the bad old days of FidoNET and USENET.

This reminds me of a saying that I firmly believe in. "You can't learn a damn thing from someone who thinks the same as you do." In order to learn you must at some point be wrong so that you can correct the course of your thinking.

Fools surround themselves with people who look, think and do exactly as they do. They cannot stand to be corrected and proven wrong. Wise men embrace diversity, debates and are thankful when they are corrected or presented with a new way to see a situation.

I have zero.
This actually surprises me because I was raised in a critical and judgmental manner by my family and that is something hard to defeat in my personality.
I see my brothers and sisters here on TalkBass jerking me back into line every once in a while and I am fine with that.
All that being said I'm sure I've made a few ignore lists because I can be rather blunt and forget to filter my brain before it goes on the screen, at times.
For the most part I'm a pretty fun-loving guy!
Cheers you lowenders!

Currently I have nobody on my ignore list but from time to time I ignore posters who seem to be here mainly to promote a specific brand. I find it tiresome after a while when the same posters turn up EVERY time there's even the slightest opportunity to throw in some praise for "their" brand. I'm sure others may find it helpful and the posters I'm thinking about are for the most part a great asset to the forum but sometimes it just gets too much to hear poster X praise every product currently made by company Y. So I hit the ignore button, but usually only for a short while.

Trolls are part of the fun IMO so I usually don't ignore them. And I can enjoy a good heated discussion even when I'm proven wrong and looks like an idiot, lol.

Generally I find the quality of this forum and it's moderation to be very good.

Zero. I admin/mod some FB music related pages/groups and even tho' I eliminate spam right away (unrelated to the subject, I let people announce music, artists and concerts of course, even ads in the right places) you wouldn't believe how many people report posts just out of offense from things they simply don't like. Can't people just triage on their own then proceed to the next thing, something that's more interesting and productive for them? Sorta' narcissistic if you ask me, emotionally hemophiliac.
1. triage, 2. narcissistic, 3. hemophiliac Too many medical references in one post. And I would believe, my first job was cleaning up after the elites celebrating their "achievements".
