Number of people on your Ignore list?

I have about 7 people on my ignore list. I scour the classifieds regularly. Most users on my ignore list are there because they've been selling the exact same basses for long enough that I get tired of skipping past their strings of daily bumps after a few months.

A few are on the list for their uncanny ability to post pics of their instruments in what feels like any and every thread in the Basses forum, no matter how tenuous or thin the connection to their basses. I'm sure you're lovely people, but like you, I've been around talkbass a long time, and I don't need to see your collections everyday. I've already seen them hundreds of times before.

This reminds me of a saying that I firmly believe in. "You can't learn a damn thing from someone who thinks the same as you do." In order to learn you must at some point be wrong so that you can correct the course of your thinking.

Fools surround themselves with people who look, think and do exactly as they do. They cannot stand to be corrected and proven wrong. Wise men embrace diversity, debates and are thankful when they are corrected or presented with a new way to see a situation.
Neil Boortz has a saying: "If two people agree on everything, then one of them is redundant." I very much agree with your wise point of view with one small caveat: About many things I have no belief or opinion to be proven wrong, but am merely agnostic. One could almost say that ignorance is my specialty. (Actually one COULD say that ignorance is my specialty, but it wouldn't be very polite to say it.) And I try to be aware that the things I do know are neither absolute nor the best solution to every problem. I long ago learned that if I applied the very best technical solutions to every design, we'd never sell anything. The very best possible design is almost always a series of compromises. I think that applies to a lot of things in life.

I was a little surprised to see a thread which came across to me as “how many of your talk bass brothers and sisters do you despise”? So zero blocked for me. I don’t know, I come here to get a lot of great info on gear, technique, etc., and the people are by and large incredibly kind and helpful. Sure, there are some snarky and arrogant posters, but at least there are (presumably) not paid trolls on here, which is what blocking is useful for.

It's not that I despise anyone, but if every interaction with them ends poorly, then it's with them or it's me or perhaps a combination but nothing good come from it, so maybe it's best that we don't interact. It's not a case where someone says Gb when it's clearly an F#.

Used to be 1, and now 0. The one person on the ignore list wasn't there because of any bad behavior on their part, it's just that reading anything posted by them (mostly theory-related) would trigger me hard enough to engage in a conversation. A conversation that knows only losers. No productive posting to be had.

I've since learned to hold back on that.
Das, dass zerstoert mich nicht.....
