Number of people on your Ignore list?

I don't have anyone on my ignore list. Sure, there are the same old threads - people complaining about uber/busy bassists, or simple bassists; people complaining about expensive basses or budget basses; people complaining about modern technology or vintage technology; "why more than four strings/when does it stop being bass" or "why would you want less than seven strings"....it goes on and on and on, it's pretty cyclical, and you'll definitely see a lot of strong opinions in all of these cases.

But I've found no reason to do a blanket ignore on all possible posts by a specific user based on a handful of posts or one single thread. It's simply unnecessary and I personally think it's a toxic mentality - the toxic mentality of our time. The only time I have used the Ignore feature is when the board was spammed with a lot of unreadable ads by a single user; that was a case where blocking everything by a user made sense.

I never Ignore for opinion, it's always for attitude. If someone is a jerk in the relative anonymity of an online forum, then that's what they're really like. But I've met far, far more good people here.

Yeah, but you have the "Ban" button available. Heh.

True now, but the ignores were from before I became a mod. And to tell the truth, even now, if someone gets on my nerves, I report it to the other mods same as a regular member would - I don't want to wield the Ban Hammer out of a personal pique.

Zero on my list, but I am certain that I'll be on someone's list somewhere, can't really blame them either sometimes I do voice an opinion that is in direct opposition to the majority. I am honest but sometimes that's not what people want.

In my opinion, no one should get ignored for expressing an opinion, regardless of what that opinion is or whether it matches anyone else's opinion. I'm actually *thankful* for when someone expresses an opinion that differs from mine. Why? Because living in a world where everyone has the same opinion would be a freakish science fiction world that I would never want to live in. So thank goodness for differing opinions!!!

And that's my opinion! :roflmao:

I agree with @CyberSnyder in his post #104 where he says he never ignores for opinion, it's always for attitude.

I actually checked on this a while back, in response to another thread. I haven't ignored many people, but it turned out that everyone I had put on ignore wound up banned anyway.
Well....at the risk of getting on your bad side.....
That would be kinda easy for a moderator to arrange.....Wouldn't it?....:roflmao:...

Groveling apology available on demand....

I, of course....disagree.....

How many people are on your ignore list? I used to go by the rule of never ignoring anyone, but found that it really made Talkbass more enjoyable. Every year or so, I'll review the list and I usually find that one out of five are now banned, so it isn't just me. Usually after the "review" I'll unignore everyone. Sure enough, the same people quickly go back on that list. I currently have seven on the list and by the time I do the net "review" there will probably be ten.

Please don't mention any members by name. I'm not trying to turn this into an outing or attitude shaming session. I like the feature.
This is the internet! I ignore no one. I enjoy the posts of the people I find most distasteful the most!
