That is a great looking bass and a bass with a fender neck, dual soapbar routing and a real electronics cavity would definately send me on a crusade trying all the cool electronics that can be fitted there..

Fender with alembic pups electronics.. Fender with Ken Smith pups and East pre.. I'd be bankrupt before the end of the month.

Here's my MIJ Aerodyne, purchased around 2006-07. Two modifications: swapped the original pickup cover (white) for the brushed "gold" one, and added a pickup cover. The one thing I really don't like about it is the bottom-loading cable jack. You have to always be sure to loop your cable through your strap, or it falls out at the worst time.

Hear are some pictures of my Cherry Sparkle Burst USA HM, with Lace Sensors, fin inlays, and an active B/T. Great sounding, not at all like a jazz bass.

In this last pic, you can see the graphite crosshatch, it has a layer of graphite between the neck wood and the fingerboard.

I’ve HAD a couple. A 92 Jazz Plus V just like this one:

That was the best feeling bass I’ve ever owned but the B string was just never quite right. Some strings made it better than others but the B string just sounded too different to the rest. That was before I discovered my love of Chromes. I wish I could hear it with a set of those.

Also had a MSI Precision special. Can’t remember which year but it was like this:

I also had a '92 Jass Plus V in Black that was my first Jazz Bass and changed the entire path of basses I played... from a six-string neck-thru "Hippy Sandwich" to 4 & 5-string bolt-on basses with 1 or 2-piece bodies. But alas, the weak B-string was its downfall with me as well. I think that for Production Basses 1992 was just a tad too early for powerful, equal-to-all-the-others Bs... another 5 years and that was pretty much solved.

Gee, where to begin?...

in the order I owned them:

Coronado Bass II - Antigua (1969) neck date was 1969 but I ordered the bass new in 1971
Telecaster Bass - blue flowers (1969)
Bass V - sunburst (1968) it was short scale bass with a high C string with only 15 frets so it didn't go any higher than a standard Fender. (the only bass I do not regret selling)
Telecaster Bass - walnut stain maple fingerboard (1973) the second variation with the big Humbucking pickup right next to the neck
Precision Elite - Candy Apple Green (1980)
Bass VI - olympic white (1969 ish) - White pearl squares Three Pickups/four switches and a Fender Floating Vibrato - Didn't lke it as a bass so I used it as a baritone guitar
Mustang Bass - competition orange (1972)
Walnut Precision Elite - natural walnut with walnut fretboard (1980ish) very HEAVY!!!
Precision Fretless - blonde/maple fingerboard (1983) I put in a Dimarzio P and added a DiMarzio J and wired it stereo! Killer M-WAH
Precision Bass midnight blue (1993) "Fender" in large letters "by Squier" in small letters - P/J pickups - always on active electronics - LED battery strength indicator between knobs - I have only seen two anywhere and both were the same colour???

Precision A/E - sunburst (1994) a great bass-killer tone-really wish I still had it
